What do I need to have tip money ready for?

Do you tip the DME drivers? How much?
How about the shuttles between resorts and parks?

I know to tip housekeeping, but how much (at AllStar, if it makes any difference)? We generally DON'T like housekeeping to come in every day. As long as we have enough clean/dry towels and toilet paper, we'd rather not have them come in at all. So... how do you tip when they don't come every day?

Anything else I'm forgetting? (Besides restaurants, which I assume is the customary 15-20%).

We don't tip the bus drivers and I haven't ever seen anyone else do it.

We leave a decorated envelope with a couple of dollars in it for mousekeeping. If they don't come every day, just leave it on the days they are there.

I have never been present when ME brings our bags. If I were there then I would tip them.

Last time, we left our bags at baggage claim on our last day. When we went to get them for ME back to the airport, they brought them over to the pickup area for us. My DH tipped them and they graciously accepted.

DME only gets tipped if he touches any of my bags.

Baggage from DME even if in room needs no tip ( It's included for them from ME ). If baggage after 1st delivery touches my bags they get $1 per bag as well.We do tip ME on return trip as driver puts bags under bus for us.

Shuttles ,buses, monorails, and regular boats ( not the fishing or pay to ride ) are not suppose to accept tips.

Mousekeeping we do $1 per person per day and leave it everyday as the people do switch that clean your room

We do 20% at the eateries if service is good and 10% if not so good and 1% if bad ( We don't want them to think we forgot but want them to remember to at least do what they can for us. This is for bad attitude or service as I know they can not control food or other things behond their control).

What about tipping mousekeeping with Disney dollars? Would they like that or would that annoy?

I'd stay away from using Disney Dollars -- service workers usually need the money for groceries or for gas to get to work, not to spend at WDW shops or vendors.

Here is my thought on tipping. No tipping for mousekeeping, it is a salaried posiition. Tip everyone else only if you want to, and ONLY IF THE SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL! If it is just standard, or so, so, then NO TIP!!! :goodvibes

I was at WDW about 6 weeks ago.

Tipped DME $2 for handling 2 bags. He seemed pleasantly surprised. I didn't watch closely, but I didn't notice anyone else tipping him.

I stayed at Coronado Springs for 7 nights. I left $2 on the table every morning for mousekeeping before heading for the parks. Every evening when I returned, the money was still there. I never saw an envelope marked specifically for tips...like some hotels have...so I don't know why the money was never taken.

I'll be staying at Pop Century during Mousefest. I haven't decided yet if I'll try leaving tips. But I'll definitely be tipping DME again...even if I turn out to be the only one.

Tip ME $1. per bag IF they touch your bags.

No need for the buses between parks/resorts.

Bell hop if used, $1 per bag.

Sky caps at the airport $2 per bag. (I want these guys happy so my luggage doesn't get lost!)

Mousekeeping; $1. per person, per day. I get the envelopes ready before my trip. I will always tip housekeeping where ever I stay. Its a country-wide standard and very much appreciated by them. :goodvibes

Of course, its a personal choice who you want to tip and how much but this is what we tip on vacation.

This happened to us in 2003. We left a note saying thanks and then they took the $$$$. We also got some great towel animals after that!!!

Its because mousekeeping cannot take money just sitting on a table. It must be clearly marked.

Hmmmph....That didn't stop them from taking my plastic cup full of change out of the dresser drawer on our next to last day. :furious:

Boy was I upset over that one. Not only was the cup in the drawer, there were also clothes on top of it. Needless to say, they received no further tip and a nasty little note. I also reported it to the hotel manager. I never heard anything more about that incident. :confused3

We tip $5 's for baggage handling, busdriver (DME), bell hop, thrifty, if taken to resort room (CBR) both ways.

We tip $3 a day for mousekeeping. Our last stay was OKW which didn't have mousekeeping every day (day 4 and 8) but we tipped $5 for on day 4 and again $10 on our last day. That's our tipping guidelines :)

I was only posting Mousekeeping policy.

What happened to you was stealing. That's very unfortunate and I'd be pretty mad as well.
