Does anyone have a latex foam bed?

Not a memory foam, but latex. I'd never heard of these beds, but tried one out at a furniture store and it seemed real comfortable. It's not inexpensive, however. As I understand, it's a layer of latex foam over an innerspring mattress. We're looking to get a new mattress/box springs and have considered a pillowtop. I don't like the memory foam, but this has a totally different feel to it and is supposed to be good for allergies.

Just giving this a bump for the nighttime crowd...

We purchased a Euro-Tex mattress set last year at Boscov's. They no longer sell that brand, but we got a great deal - 50% off the floor model less my 15% employee discount.

The mattress is extremely lightweight and is made of laytex foam, but not the memory foam, and it has a pillow-top. There are no springs poking my lower back, which became a real problem for me with our old mattress. I toss and turn less.

Thanks for the info!

The info I've read said it is lightweight. The bed I tried wasn't pillowtop, but it seemed a bit squishy, if that makes any sense (the one I tried was a Sealy).

I only priced this one at the furniture store, but it seems so much more expensive than other mattresses, but maybe their prices are inflated.

I used to sell Latex beds and my sister has one so I know a little about them. Latex beds are really great for people with allergies because they are made of natural material. They are better than memory foam beds because, 1)memory foam cradles your body so you sleep much warmer and 2)memory foam beds will eventually start to sag where you sleep on them and most Latex beds come with at least 20 yr warranties (at least the ones we sold did).

Latex are really good for pressure relief because there are no springs, but you sleep more on top of the bed instead of nestled down in it like with memory foam.

Hope some of that helps. My sister loves her bed. I bought memory foam and wish that I would have gotten the latex.

Memory foam skeeves me out. Don't know why, but it does. I bought a pillow and tried it for a couple nights, but couldn't sleep on it at all. My DH tried it and didn't like it, either. But then my DH's brother game him one and my DH thought it must be good if his brother gave it to him, so he used it for awhile, but I hated to touch it even to change the pillowcase when I washed the sheets. :rotfl: Eventually my DH gave up and went back to a regular pillow to shut me up. :rotfl2: I tried the memory foam mattress at the furniture store just for giggles and I wasn't giggling.

Ash, thanks for the latex foam info. It sure did seem comfortable and I'm glad it seems to last. That was one thing I was wondering about.

Just make sure that you get PURE foam latex if you get one, you don't want one that has added things.

What should I be looking out for? It looks like some have both kinds of foam, which I don't want. What else?

My daughter has one in her room :confused3 I have never slept on it though. She seems to like it.

Some beds are 100% natural latex over high density foam. That is good. What you don't want is synthetic rubbers or fillers in the latex. Some companies do that to reduce cost, but you won't get the benefits that you would from NATURAL latex.

Ash, this says that it's not natural latex, but it is all latex (no fillers?). So this is or isn't what I would want? I'm so confused. I want to show my DH these beds this weekend so we can narrow it down to latex vs pillowtop. I know he liked the Heavenly Bed when he stayed at a Westin, but I want to at least consider this, too.
