Everytime we travel on Amtrak DH and I have huge problems sleeping w/the train motion & noise going on through the night, plus the fact that it's so cramped. We usually do the sleeping accomodations since we have 3 kids. I was just thinking that maybe if we took some nighttime tylenol or something like that it might help a little. anyone ever try that and had any luck?

We've used Amtrak for the last 10 trips to WDW, 27 hours, and some trips we have a roomette from DC to Kissimmee, or we just do reserved coach the whole way and never have a problem sleeping. In the roomettes, wife up top, me on the bottom and the motion of the train lulls us right to sleep. We do better in the roomette, sleeping and rest than in coach. Really wouldn't want to take anything in case of an emergency.

Yes, that's why I never wanted to take anything before-but I thought something relatively mild might be okay...I'll probably chicken out and not be able to take it anyway because I'd be too worried about the kids in case of an emergency.

BTW, we're talking about the Auto-train-just an FYI.

We had two deluxe bedrooms on our round trip on the AutoTrain. They slid open the divider door to make more space. I did not sleep very well at all. I didn't like the nearly constant bouncing while I was laying down - up/down, side-to-side, front-to-back. I sat in the chair and watched out the window one way and watched movies the other way until I got so tired that I actually couldn't stay awake anymore, then I layed down and went to sleep.

Everyone else in my family slept well.

That would be CSX track.

CSX thinks that other railroads overmaintain their track.

I normally reserve a roomette. I stay up as late as I can, then I sleep like a baby throught the night. ;)
