Does anyone else wish they'd go back to limiting and charging for Evening EMH's?

:goodvibes:goodvibes E NIGHTS!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

*sigh*

I remember sitting on a bench outside Space and watching my boys run around over and over and over and over and over......:rotfl:

I recall when they first came on the scene, it was message boarders who seem to be the only ones who knew about them. They were just DEAD! Empty!

And then one trip I was checking in at Port Orleans and saw a big banner. No! I remember thinking to myself.... dangit!!! LOL!

Aaaaah...... E-Nights! :teeth:

There's no comparison between Extra Magic and E-nights.

I remember riding Splash over and over and over without having to get off... and riding Mansion with only one other couple in the stretch room with us.

Those were the days... :teeth:

I's pay for more than $10 for that sort of evening. Definitely. I've rarely used Extra magic and when I have it's been a zoo!

Yes. E-nights were the best. Although now with two kids (#3 on her way in 11 days) We don't do too many late nights anymore.

Disney can't win. When E-nights were being done, I can't tell you how many times I heard, "I'm not paying extra for shorter lines, I'm paying too much as it is, lines should be shorter anyways". And now it's complaints about EMH and wanting E-nights back.
So true. Just look at how many people are thrilled with Main St Elec parade coming back, but the other half is upset that they'll miss Spectro!!! No one thing is going to make everyone happy.

E nights were great. Now I always visit the low crowd non emh parks. I guess emh is good for that, it keeps the other parks less crowded. :thumbsup2
Dan...I thought we had all agreed to keep this under our hats!!!! :lmao: The more people that hear this, the more people that will be over at MK on DHS EMH nights.

Now change that to the CMs asking you to stay on the ride because they're lonely. Imagine walking through the park, turning a corner and there are Mickey and Minnie standing alone just looking for people to interact with. We had CMs at the Haunted Mansion asking us to stick around because they were tired of watching empty cars pass by. I suspect for Soarin you'd just sit in the same seat and ride over and over.
I haven't had that experience in years. I know that for the last few years, the attractions have been crowded up until the last hour of EMHs. Then it was a walkon situation. But I still resent that Disney allows non-resort guests to remain in the parks. Sure it's nice that they aren't allowed to get on attractions, but we all know that some CMs just aren't checking room keys. But Disney has decided to 'sort of' give resort guests something 'special' while still allowing off site people to stay in the park and spend money.

IMHO, if they were going to charge, I would say do it on a sliding scale based on the class hotel you are staying at, and then really charge if someone off site is doing it:

$10 - Deluxe
$15 - Moderate
$20 - Value
$50 - Off Site
Not going to happen. Disney is very adverse to doing anything that will develop a 'class system' when it comes to resorts. There is a reason all resort keys look exactly the same, with the exception of concierge level keys. Disney doesn't want those staying at POP (for instance) to feel like a lower class citizen when they are standing behind the family that is staying at the Polynesian. Having different room keys would do that.

I guess we're the exception we've always been able to do all that we wanted to do at MK evening EMH and we go in mid to late June, we didn't and still wouldn't pay extra to go

You can't be serious!

Our first trip last year we were at Magic Kingdom one night... Just as EMH started the clouds opened up and it poured rain. People were running for the exits in droves. The rain ended in about 20 minutes and the park was ours. My then six-year-old daughter and I stayed until as she says "They kicked us out!" We didn't wait in line for any ride and the buses were empty when we left.

We rode Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain multiple times without having to get out of the seats! The CMs just kept it repeating. It was awesome.

There were times that we didn't even see other guests within site of us.

Okay, Diane, I'll take back my thoughts. Emh does not help the other parks' crowds stay lower. :lmao: :woohoo:

i'll chime in here. i never experienced e-nights, only emh.

i'm gonna go out on a limb, but i would venture to say that anything WDW does is measured as whether or not it's profitable.

i would guess that WDW's purpose for e-nights or EMH is additional profit, not empty parks for us to drool over.

so either the crowd level or the price of admission will reflect that.

Hrm. I keep hearing conflicting reports. Do EMH really make a difference in crowds at the other parks? I've been to other parks on "off" days and can't tell the difference. Maybe because it was peak season...

That sounds wonderful-sorry to anyone who will be there at the same time as we are but I'm going to wish that this happens for me and my DS :thumbsup2

We got to participate in e-ride nights-I danced with Mickey in front of the Castle-it was wonderful.

A few years ago me and DS tried evening EMH-it was packed-even more than it had been in the middle of the day-and that was in September.

I've been reading reports and thinking that maybe we didn't wait it out long enough-we hope that it works out better.

Funny that I found this thread today. Dh and I were just talking last night about how much we miss E-nights! Yep, I'd definitely pay for the bracelet again! Some of the best times (and shortest wait times!) we ever had was during E-nights!!

We have a winner, give that d1gitman a cigar.

I guess it's possible, as a PP wrote, that the E-ticket was not selling enough to justify the cost of keeping the park open just for them, but with EMH and allowing non Disney resort guests to stay in the park, maybe it justifies it. Should we give Disney the benefit of the doubt on this one?

It would be nice if EMH were more frequent. If they had EMH everyday, preferably at more than 1 park. it would be awesome, much less crowded.

We used MK PM EMH during spring break, it was open till 3 am, and by 1 everything was a walk on. We loved it. We napped that day to get ready, planning on staying at the park until at least 2. We ended up leaving just before 3, and we were walking through an EMPTY park. It was surreal.

Having the characters around would be an awesome addition to EMH!

I think EMH works best when the park has regular hours till at least 9, making emh till midnight or later. If they make the closing time 8 pm, then emh only goes till 11, you will have more people staying all the way till the end. They seem to do this at HS a lot.

I love AK EMH because you can ride Everest in the dark, so rare, and it only happens when we have an early sunset, not during the summer so much.

EMH is a major perk of staying onsite to me, if they took it away I would be very upset. I would not pay 25 or 30 dollars to ride Space over and over. I think they should have two parks open per EMH night - MK and one additional park. That would help with the crowds. Or have paid EMH in one park and free in another park. Any yes, bring back the wristbands!

I would never pay for that. The perk of staying on property is EMH(one of the perks). Universal has front of the line access, we have EMH. Not everyone does it anyway, so during our stays I did not find long lines and we go during busy summer time.

Yes, but there is a difference. EMH lets thousands and thousands of people in. There are still waits and lines.

E-Ride nights were limited to a total of 5,000 people so the park felt very empty and you didn't have to wait for anything. Of course, this was limited to MK, but a perk for people to pay is that they know there won't be any waits or any lines and some people like me are willing to pay for that especially if they expanded it to the other parks.

The reason disney changed it was because they can now let a lot more people in and they can use the excuse that its free, but in reality disney is making more money this way, because a lot more people are in EMH and now they are spending money on food and souvenirs and of course staying in a disney resort which they profit more than the price of a ticket for E-Ride nights.

The perk of E-Ride nights is that they are guaranteeing a beautiful empty park and lots of fun to those 5,000 people but for an extra cost. They won't profit as much this way because those people who choose to stay in a disney resort because of EMH might not if they took it away and therefore, they might actually loose money if they went back to E-Ride nights.

Just look at amzking post....he/she states that they EMH is a big perk for them for staying onsite, and yes, on some occasions EMH is not crowded, but it will never be like E-Ride nights.

Maybe they can do both the EMH for free and E-Ride nights. That would be pretty cool. Best of both worlds.

I don't think this would help. It would just be extra crowded in both parks.
