Does anyone else skip the parades?

After 6 visits in the past 31 years, I finally saw my first parade (Share A Dream Come True) last fall. We watched it because DD wanted to see it. We got treats from the Adventureland ice cream stand, and stood on the platform around the big tree in Frontierland. It was great- but we probably won't plan on another for our next trip. If we happen to be in the right place at the right time, then we will see one. If not- oh, well!

This is NOT the case with fireworks, though! DH insisted we get back to the room each night before the fireworks last fall, and I have informed him that this fall, WE ARE SEEING THE FIREWORKS!!!!! That was my one big disappointment last year- we didn't get to see fireworks because of DH being a crab.

I try to see each one once, then it doesn't matter - I do try and see the SpectroMagic one because it's so gorgeous. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Sometimes and sometimes not. Most of the time we do but if we have a fastpass that we are waiting for the ride time and a parade happens to be during our wait time then we grab a snack and watch the parade. Now that my youngest is getting a touch older and can wait, I think we might start doing them a little more.

I was never a parade fan growing up (why just sit there when I could actually be DOING something...same with the characters), so I've only seen a few parades. Out of the 9 trips I've had to WDW, since age 5 (22 years ago!!!) I've seen 2 parades. I saw the "Remember the Magic" parade when I was there with my young step-siblings in 1996, and then "Tapestry of Dreams" in 2002. We started watching "Spectromagic" in 2002, but we just didn't like it. And I love that the lines are shorter during those times!!!

We generally stop and watch for a minute or two if they happen to be going on when we're traveling from ride a to ride b, but don't make it a point to see them. Our grandchildren aren't big parade fans, they'd rather go on rides, so they don't let us linger for long anyway.

We have a problem, I love parades, my husband does not. We usually see Spectro two times per trip, and Share a Dream Come True, once. As for the MGM and AK parades, I've seen them each once, but can't talk Stephen into sitting and watching them. I'm hoping to catch them each again this year.

We skip them. I think every rude person in the park seems to congregate for the parades, and by the time our entire family has been shoved, kicked, and stepped on, it kind of ruins the rest of the day. Better to just avoid them and keep a happy face!

I'm not a parade person, but I did love Tapestry of Dreams (after dark) and tried to see it every trip. But now that they have done away with it, I can definitely do without the parades.

When we first took DS to WDW, we watched the parades (each parade 1 time) and he got to participate in the "setting Belle's table" part during the one parade in 2000 (bad me, cannot recall the name of the parade!). Now that he's older, we've skipped them as he'd rather go on rides.

It's not on our priority list. we NEVER have staked out a spot and waited for a parade! Too much time wasted. We have been VERY lucky, though and been in the right place at the right time to just kinda stop where we were and watch the parade.....like coming out of CRT dinner as the SpectroMagic parade passed right in front of us. We came out of some ride in Frontierland and there was another parade. I do like the AK parade and will try to catch it if we're around. If not, no big deal. Saw the MGM one once and would like to catch it again.

We've never stayed for any of the parades. As far as I'm concerned, while others are watching them, it's my chance to go ride things.

You can't really see a parade unless you claim your spot 30 minutes ahead of the start. I'm not willing to give up that much time!!!!!!
We've never made an after dark parade.
Kids are still too little.

I don't see why the parades are such big deal for people, maybe its just cause I'm short and can't see anything.

Somehow at MK we get stuck near Splash Mountain at parade time (last two years). We will watch some of it, then walk the small path around the lake of Tom Sawyer's Island and jump on HM before the parade is over.

We are usually back to the resort pool during afternoon parade times.

Except for Tapestry of Dreams in Epcot (would never miss that one) we have no interest in the parades.

I have been to Disney Twice and I have never seen a parade or fireworks. I am going to do it all this time :Pinkbounc

If I had a clear view, without having to stake out a spot then I'd watch a parade. This is my fantasy, will never happen so I'll stay out of the way.

Whenever I see hoards of people sitting on the curb at MK for an hour in the searing July afternoon sun I just want to leave! Usually it's South American tour groups - they stake out their spaces 90mins-2hours before the parade times, totally insane!

I happened to catch the Share a Dream Come True (I think) parade by accident a year or so ago, near the bridge to the right of the castle. Had a great view with no waiting at all. Not even a tall person in front of me which is a shocker as I'm only 5ft. Hey that was my fantasy, and it came to pass! :cool1:

Parade times can be good for PS if you don't mind eating at strange times.

Louise

I plan on skipping the parades at MK this time, but I want to the see the parades at MGM. I've never seen an MGM parade.
