Does anyone else make their ADRs during their trip, not before?

we made them all last year before our trip with FDDP and it worked out so well. The year before we had not made any and were not aware of the FDDP, but happened to be there that week. We had a bit of a struggle getting into Le Cellier and other places we really wanted. So last year I made sure to try the ADRs. Still did not get Le Cellier for last year, but we loved all the places we ate last year (9 days of free dining with a family of 5). It was our first time at Concourse, Chef Mickey's, and Crystal Palace.

This year we have ADRs for

50s Prime Time
Concourse
Biergarten
Boma
Chefs de France
San Angel Inn
Liberty Tree Tavern
Coral Reef
O'hana
and last but not least Le Cellier!!

we had ADRs for 3 nights. the last night, I called disney dining to see what was available for a group of 5...it was a saturday around 5 b/c we were on our way to MGM for the extreme stunt show...we got a 7:55 for biergarten, which made DH very happy b/c that's his favorite place and he didn't get to go last time he went.

I make them all in advance but most trips I end up changing at least one while I'm there.

This is the first trip we have taken where we will eat more than once or twice (in a fortnight) on site. For this trip, we have made all our ADRs in advance (given that it is during free dining). Usually, though, we have either done walk-ups or called Disney dining a couple of days before we require the ressie and had no problems getting in. We normally go at off-peak times, though.

Next April we are going for a fortnight. I will make ADRs for any restaurants we desperately want at (or near) the 180-day mark. The rest we will probably play by ear.
