Does anyone else feel that Disney prices are getting OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

I know some of you are going to say, if you can't afford it don't go. My husband and I are working people and are looking really forward to bringing our 3 year old twins on their first vacation and we are going to pay whatever they charge but the prices are so high and seem to be getting higher every year, especially the last few years. I have a 2004 guide book that say's that the adult buffet at Crystal Palace is $19.99 and I know this year it's $27 or $28. Doesn't this seem like a big jump for just 2 years? And now the ticket prices going up for the second time in 1 year, it just seems like greed from a big company. It's like they know people will pay it so they charge as much as they can get away with, it's just so frustrating. Anyone else feel this way? Linda

the prices for GF are crazy
in 2004 i paid 134 for courtyard view room at WL
it is SOOO MUCH MORE NOW
but the indurty seems to have rebounded and people pay so it is what it is

Rather than almost $30 for a buffet you could get a decent counter service meal (there are many options that are not just burgers and fries) for under $10.

WDW is charging market prices. It's the law of supply and demand. They are dealing with record crowds, so have no reason to not continue to make as much of a profit as they can. In fact they are beholden to their shareholders to do so.

We've gone the past two summers and had a ball. We had planned to go again next summer, but with the huge price increases and the changes in the DDP we are re-thinking our vacation plans. We'll see if we can withstand the pull.

We don't always stay onsite. So, when we don't we have to pay for parking and that is getting very pricey!!!!

The way I look at it, many people spend $70+ per person to go to a concert, theater, sports event, etc. where the show lasts a few hours. For that same $70+ I could go to a Disney park and spend the whole day and evening!

Yeh, it's getting crazy! We don't even eat on Disney property anymore, it's just too expensive. Another thing out of control is T-shirt prices, 26.00 for a Mickey shirt!

If we still lived up North I don't think we'd even be going to Disney anymore, one of the benefits of living close is we don't have to stay or eat onsite. I also think the overall quality of things at Disney as gone down, CM moral is low, Disney keeps raising prices but pay rates are still crap. It's a shame.

I guess they will continue to raise prices until people stop going.....we usually go twice a year but if the prices go up too much then we will either have to shorten our 2 trips per year or only go once....no matter what it takes, we will continue to go!

It's actually funny because it's cheaper to get into WDW than it is to get into Six Flags!

Your trip to WDW can be fairly inexpensive you just have to do some research before booking your trip. For example, when DBF and I went in 2005, we tried to "save money" by booking an off-site hotel, and booking said hotel and air-fare through travelocity. We also "saved money" by buying our tickets through AAA. We ended up spending over $5000 for a 6 day/7 seven night trip and $3500 was just on getting there (airfare, hotel, transportation, and park tickets)! The money we "saved" by staying off-site was just wasted on transportation to and from the hotel. We paid $160 for Mears transportation to and from the airport, and $50 each way to and from DTD. All because spending $68 a night at an off-site hotel was cheaper than the $72 a night for a WDW Value Resort. We also found out a couple months ago that there are other places to buy WDW tickets....like MapleLeafTickets.com, and similar places. Not to mention the added stress of staying off-site (the hotel offered a bus to the parks but it only dropped you off and picked you up at one certain time during the day. If you missed the bus, you were taking a cab).
DBF and I are going back in December and have so far spent just over $2000...that includes roundtrip airfare, Disney's Magical Express, 8 days at the parks, and 9 nights in a Disney Resort (the All Star Movies). Plus we save money on our favorite souvenirs (pins) by buying them on ebay (we just got 50 pics for $2.50 each) and then trading for cool ones we like...rather than having to run and buy a pin at $6.50 plus tax each time we saw one we wanted to trade for.

We just got back from our yearly visit, and I agree, the prices are getting way high on just about everything. Food, clothes, tickets, all up from before. Yes, Dis has the right to do whatever they want pricing, but that doesn't mean it won't hurt the consumer pocket unfairly. We also noticed that year after year, the service in the parks has gone down. Some of the cm's are not as friendly or comminted to service and the parks are not as clean as they used to be(I have been going for about 20 years). That being said, we will still save to make our yearly trip, but we have cut back on the number of days we stay, and have dropped down to a value resort.

We are going the first week in Sept this year and today booked the first week in Sept for next year at Pop......the difference in this year and next year......about 69.00. I dont think thats too bad.

I'm often shocked when I go that they can afford to run what they do given the price. I think the value is good, and sure food is good, but you're paying for the atmosphere, not just the food. I dont have a bunch of money, but we save and go and when we do I really enjoy it.

Its really interesting to see complaints about the CMs and the cost in one post, the reasons CM turnover is high is there is very little money invested in them. They're basically paid similarly to wal mart workers and I don't begrudge ppl in those jobs for not 'doing their best'. Its borderline slave labour, its a complete joke working near minimum wage and its always service which is horrific to work.

Im very pleased with Disney and I agree with their pricing even it can seem crazy at times, look at all you get for it!

We love how clean disney is. The rides at Disney are not just rides like six flags and other places there is a story and often complete buildings built around them. The charectors are everywhere. The fireworks Disney is amazing.

We booked to stay at a moderate resort next April and the CM asked if we wanted to purchase tickets for our April trip and we said no. She went on to say that Disney WILL BE raising ticket prices yet again come Jan.2007. She told us to buy our tickets before 2007 comes or we'll be spending even more money!

Outrageous? No. More than I'm willing to pay? Maybe. I debated upgrading my one-day base ticket for my upcoming package... and decided instead that maybe it's time to explore something called "other places to take a vacation" that my brothers keep pushing...

I am unsure right now. We go in Sept and this is the 2nd year we have gotten in on the free dining plan.

DH, DD and myself travel every year in July to Mexico. We usually stay 7-10 days and do an all inclusive-meals, drinks (alcohol and non), non motorized watersports, etc. This year we are spending almost exactly the same (within $10) staying at CSR with dining as we just spent last month in Mexico. To us, they are both good values, that is why we continue to go while we can afford to.

I guess this just validates the DVC selling point that room prices (and ticket prices too) will go up, but once you buy into DVC the room price is set. Man I love that DVC
