Does anybody think Michael Jackson faked his death

Just as people can be penny wise and pound foolish, people can also be book smart but have no common sense. I'm saying this in general terms.

Honestly though, the conspiracy theories are a bit ridiculous as are most conspiracy theories. How does one "fake" their own death, anyway? Would he have pretended to be dead? Would his body just have not been there? So everyone who lived at his house, his family, the EMTs, the detectives, his children who saw his body --- they're all in on this?

I am not only college level but have a masters as well degrees in psychology, art and education! I also have enough courses to get a docterate but I am too lazy to write my dissertation.

I guess the first thing I want to say is stranger things have happened when it comes to people disappearing. Look at Whitey Bulger!

Second, college degrees are just a piece of paper and those who feel they are BETTER than someone without a college degree in any respect need look only as far as someone like Bill Gates, NO college degree! One more little note on college education WHO MORE discusses, and believes in conspiricy theories than college professors?

I will admit that the idea of MJ being alive is far fetched but then again don't many ideas that have been proposed in the past seem far fetched to the unenlightend? If you lived in the 1400's the Earth was flat and if you lived in the late 1600's in Salem if you floated in water you were a witch not to mention that blood letting and using the same unclean hands and instruments contributed to the death of many women after childbirth as recent as the late nineteeth century. I never judge someone because of their education or those who think out of the box.

In the 15th century there was no scientific knowledge about the shape of the earth. In the 17th century there was no scientific knowledge to explain any of the "happenings" attributed to paranormal behavior. There was no scientific knowledge to explain the relationship between hygiene and disease. All of your examples are of times in history when lack of education led to beliefs that the average layperson could understand - or could be persuaded to understand by a leader such as a religious figure.

The same dynamic is not at work today, We KNOW that washing an instrument before using it on a patient can save lives because we understand the scientific relationship between a sterile instrument and patient mortality. So if you said, "Does anyone think that woman died because evil spirits were at work?" I would question them in the same way.

I'm not disputing the fact that it is possible to attempt to stage a death. I'm disputing the fact that there is any shred of evidence that it is even remotely possible that Michael Jackson did this.

I'm also not making any point about anyone with a college degree being better than anyone who doesn't have one - that's putting words in my mouth. I am saying that I think an adult with a college degree should, in my opinion, understand that this kind of conspiracy theory isn't really real, even if it is fun to chat about on a message board. You lose me when you cross over into firmly believing it as truth.

I said it was far fetched but that I am open to the possibilty. I never said I firmly believe it as truth so you lost me on that one.

Yes, apparently some people believe this - really and truly - to be so. I thought there would be a correlation between education/age and belief in conspiracy theories, but obviously I was wrong.

Sorry, Bella, I meant the general "you, not you personally. I should have been more clear.
