Doctor Who Season 4!!!

Jenny,

Do you know if there will be a Season 3 for Torchwood? DH and I wondering. I really hope so, b/c we are both hooked on it. Tnx!

It's filming as is a new season of SJA.

next years DW Chrismas special is also filming

I'm a new Dr. Who fan. I watched for the first time last Friday and I'm hooked! He is so cute!:lovestruc I can't wait 'til Friday.

Kind of a new fan here too! Someone from the TB convinced me to watch.
I've seen a couple episodes online, but Friday's episode was the first I've seen on TV.
Definately a good show, looking forward to Friday!

"Blink" is one of the best things EVER made for television, bar none. I think I would put it in my Top 20 or maybe even Top 10 Of All Time. As good as the best Classic Twilight Zone.

agnes!

Okay, is it just me or are none of the Torchwood characters (with perhaps the exception of Jack, who was really a Who character first) likeable? Seriously, a Welsh psychoanalyst would make a fortune off of them.

I don't find Jack likable at all..I find all of them to be flawed..I like that the DW arena is not afraid to have Non-traditional protagonists..They are more *real* than the people on other similar shows

This also holds true for their physical appearance. If an American version of Torchwood were ever done, actors who resemble the original cast would be declared ineligible. None of them are classic beauties (with perhaps the exception of John Barrowman) & the female lead would certainly have that tooth-gap fixed before she'd even be allowed to audition! I often turn to my family when we're watching Dr. Who & Torchwood & say "These people would never be cast if this was an American show."

Hollywood is in LOVE with a certain stereotyped appearance.

British TV is *not*.
Thank God.

I can't wait for Series 4 to "really" start tonight! :D

As some of you remember from the Torchwood thread, I'm a DW maniac. I'm thankful that so far this thread seems spoiler-free for DW; thanks to some overzealous Brits elsewhere, I've already been spoiled to something that happens in this first episode.

BTW, I did see Time Crash, and even though I never saw Peter Davison's Doctor, I found it hysterically funny! :teeth: I've got both Time Crash and the other mini-episode on my iPod... good stuff. :)

I try and be as generic in my Awe of an episode as possible. I know a lot of people would rather be suprised, so I try to leave out the details!

I am a peek at the back of the book kind of a person!
It drives DH nuts. But I find that I enjoy the story more if I know how its all going to wrap up. However I can keep a secret (most of the time!)
DH had NO Idea what was going to happen in the finale of Torchwood, and I had known for WEEKS... and even played dumb when he kept thinking things would turn around... ;) Of course I cried my eyes out since I KNEW the outcome.

Tonight's episode is supposed to be really good. But I have heard that the next two weeks are AMAZING!
My Brother and Mom are coming over tonight. Its kind of scary actually... NO one talks, we just sit there in anticipation. (until the stupid commercials come on!)

I agree that the Brits cast "real" people which is a refreshing change from most of the Hollywood stars in America.

Tonight's is good..Don't blink...I mean that, or you will miss something.
Next weeks is better..

Just for giggles: if you could mix Classic Who with New Who which companions would you have meet?

I think a Rose/Romana would be amusing as well as a Martha/Tegan

Oooooooooo, you ARE good. My DD knew & didn't tell me. I was grateful.

Sounds like my house. I DO like watching these shows much better on BBCAmerica though.

Yeah, I'd be a *star* in the UK (since I am most definitely not plasticized).

I kind of see:

Ace/Rose
Martha/Leela
Donna/Sara Jane (they already did Sara Jane/Rose)

I guess I can kind of see Martha/Tegan as well. What about Martha/Nyssa?

And I have not the slightest clue who you guys are talking about. :rotfl2:

Yes, I've heard the names. But I've never seen even one of them (well, I did see Sarah Jane after she got older... never would have if she wasn't in New Who  ) and I can't connect them to their Doctors. Well, I can connect Nyssa and Tegan because the Doctor (Ten) asked the Doctor (Five) about them in Time Crash... but that's it.

You really need to see some old Who..netflix is your friend...If anyone decides to watch some old DW ,ask us old fans on the Dis....Some is really really good, some is alarmingly, startlingly bad

Some of you may not know..Doctor WHo was supposed to come back in the mid -90's as an American production... The show Sliders killed it, Thank G-d
