Do your pets sleep with you (Inspired by the talking to your pets thread)

DItto here. I also think it's gross to sit on people's couches and get fur all over you. Ick.
Darn it! I was just about to invite you over for dinner too :guilty:

In all seriousness. I am an animal person (even for our evil cat that is out to get me) but I do have friends and family members that are not. We have these people over quite a bit and my best frined, who will always be totally honest with me, tells me all the time you would not know I have pets (other than DH) unless I told them. :wave2:

ETA my spelilng stinks ;)

Please don't get me wrong. I love animals. It's just I hate leaving someone's home and feeling like I need to take shower.

Well thats the thing Lindsay, I would not want someone to leave my house and feel like they need to shower for any reason. I know where my guests will be and I also understand they may even have allergies to pets. A little effort goes a long way on both ends. They know my pets, other then DH, are in certain rooms, thus they know not to go in these rooms. Agreed?

Of course L107, you are correct, but not every pet owner is as considerate as you are. A lot of them give their pets run of the house and you can't even eat at their dinner table without seeing fur on it. I've been to some people's homes where as you were eating you could see the fur in the air right around you. I mean GAG! That's beyond nasty. I love dogs and cats but I don't want their fur in my food.

Know what I mean?

I would be mortified if someone left my home and felt nasty. If you are a guest in my home I expect you to be relaxed and comfortable. Always having to brush yourself off after you get off someone's couch just doesn't seem comfortable to me.

my cat likes to sleep by my feet or in the back of my knees -- and he is definitely my cat--because he does not do this to any other member of the family

and when the alarm goes off and I do not get up --- he will take his paw and pat my cheek to wake me up :paw: :paw:

Notice to people who visit my home.

1. The dog's lives here. You don't.

2. If you don't want dog hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.

3. Yes, they have some disgusting habits. So do I and so do you. What's your point?

4. OF COURSE they smell like a dog.

5. It's his nature to try to sniff your crotch. Please feel free to sniff his.

6. I like him a lot better than I like most people.

7. To you they are dogs. To me they are adopted kids who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these things.

8. Dogs are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about whether they have the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college

Love this! I need to keep a copy for myself.

Of course and would not change it for anything. My one cat, Rusty loves to curl around my head and sleep on my pillow. He will purr and purr and it actually is very calming.

Herbie hasn't yet but that is because at night he is still separated in a spare bedroom so he doesn't hurt himself. But once he gets his stitches out and grows a bit more he will be invited into the bedroom if he wants.

I usually keep kittens in a spare bedroom at night because of the trouble they can get into. Usually around 6-9 months old I let them have free range of the house at night, including the bedroom.

Do you plan to roll around in the cat box? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My cat Cleo sleeps at the foot of the bed every night, and when the alarm goes off she gets up and sniffs my face to let me know she has been disturbed :rotfl:

Your point is not lost with me Lindsay, I just have never encountered this personally. I would be moritified if someone was in my home and they saw "fur a flying as well" and I would suspect that this is not common. Most pet owners view their pets as family and keep them as well behaved and groomed as members of their own family. It is a choice and a chore but what isn't these days.

our dog sleeps in bed with us and I swear he gets more bed than I do most nights. Thankfully the cat has moved in to our daughters room to sleep. The cat loves her attention.

our 7 lb mini weiner dog does. She can tell time too. At almost exactly 10:00 she starts looking towards the bedroom and whining. :dog:

Snoopy (our cat) usually starts off the night between my arm and my side. Then, just when I start to doze off, she'll leave to go do whatever cats do at night. Then, after a few hours, she'll decide I need to be included in the fun and come to get me. This involves rubbing her paw in my hair, bonking her head on my chin and "chirping" (or whatever you call that cat noise that's between a purr and a meow). If she gets too carried away, I lock her out, but this involves building a barricade on the other side of the door, because she'll hook her foot underneath and rattle the door.

When we had a dog, she slept on her bed next to my side of the bed. Not enough room in a queen sized bed for a man, a woman, a cat, and a German Shepherd Dog. I really believe the cat was lording it over the dog sometimes, but Misty never tried to get in the bed.

YES! Our 100lb. lab/chow cross sleeps on my legs and one of our two greyhounds usually climbs into bed as well and sleeps either between DH and I or also on my legs. They NEVER encroach on any of DH's bed space as he would totally kick them out. I never move them so they know the can totally crowd me right off the bed. I usually wake up with no blankets, freezing cold, hanging off the edge of the bed, while the dogs are sprawed over ,y half of the bed (a queen BTW). I am a push over. They're my babies!

My 108 lb. german shepherd has always slept in the bed. He takes up 1/2 the bed.

We have a bed full of animals  Our 60 lb black lab sleeps with us as well as our two cats. Yes that does mean lots of hair but if you wash the sheets and comforter as often as I do it's not an issue. Now that it's cold they are always in there. We start off with both cats but usually they start to get naughty around 4:00 in the morning and get kicked out of the room :teeth: The dog however is not a morning person so she's happy to cuddle up with me as long as I'll sleep. :) We definitely need a bigger bed though. With two of us and three of them in a full sized bed we are getting a smaller piece of the bed every night :teeth:.
