Do your pets sleep with you (Inspired by the talking to your pets thread)

yeah, we have a cat (pure white) that we rescued from a parking lot back in August and she sleeps at the foot of my bed everynight. We named her Snowwhite

Yes, Jake, our huge (100+ lb.) chocolate lab sleeps with us. Usually at the foot of the bed, but if DH falls asleep on the couch, Jake will move into his place. Sometimes during the night Jake will let out this big sigh and hop off the bed to the floor as if he is bothered by not having enough room :rotfl: .

Yep - we at least usually have 2 cats in our bed with us each night. The third sleeps with my dd11 :)
Unfortunatly, both cats like to sleep on me - so I always get squished at night..between the cats and my dh, I feel so loved! haha :rotfl:

They sure do. Right now I have 3 dogs and one cat so it is a great thing I have a king size bed. ;)

The smallest dog has to snuggle up at the back of my knees. My dog, who is the largest, has to curl up beside of me with her head on the extra pillow. The medium dog will either be at my feet or somewhere around the middle of the other side of the bed. The cat goes from on me, to in my face to the foot of the bed on the empty side.

It is great in the winter! You get extra heat without turning up the heat. ;)

Yes, my cat has her own teddy bear and Disney princess blanket that she curls up on (which also happen to be on my stomach) every night. She's my baby. Our other cat prefers the couch to himself at night. :)

Our Shepherds have always been welcome on the bed. The dog we have now will come up to snuggle, LOL, then she prefers to sleep in the hallway where she can keep an eye on every upstairs room. ;)

Our english bulldog sleeps in the bed with me most nights and then goes onto the floor later in the night. He's a person to us!

yep our cats fight for bed rights. I don't mind our 16lber because he is as lazy as they come. He'll stay put and sleep all night next to you. Our little cat likes to pounce, sleep on your head, lick your hair, kneed....it gets annoying but she will cry all night if we lock her out.

lately they've both taken to our front room couch. I miss my big guy but if it keeps the little girl out I'm ok with it.

No, never.

We have a breed that you have to remain very diligent about maintaining ALPHA status. Sharing the sleeping area with the alpha moves the dog up significantly in the pack order. We never want our dogs to get the idea that their pack order is right up there with us and above the kids. Way too dangerous. They get to sleep on the floor or in their crates like the bottom of the pack order they are. They are the gentlest and most loyal of dogs as long as they know their place in the pack. But our dogs are LGD's (livestock guardian dogs) bred for thousands of years to make their own decisions and if they think they are alpha and making the decisions, it can get pretty difficult.

Besides, being livestock guardian dogs, they don't want to sleep with us. If not in their crates, one dog will sleep downstairs by the front door, the other will sleep at the top of the landing, where she has an eye on all four bedroom doors and can keep an eye out to make sure nobody comes up those stairs while her "flock" sleeps the night away.

Besides, sharing a bed with two 100+lb dogs with cords that go everywhere just isn't pleasant. Getting whipped by a cord across the face as they move in the middle of the night is not the way I like to wake up :goodvibes

Do you have pictures? I just googled them and they sure are beautiful dogs! Are your dogs working dogs, show dogs, or pets?

Yep, Brodie (pictured in my siggy below) sleeps on my feet every night. If I don't let him up in his spot, he paces back and forth all night and won't sleep. He will get up a couple of times during the night to go check on the kids but he always comes right back.

The guinea pig on the other hand, sleeps in his cage ;)

My point exactly. We had a Japanese Akita. Even if I tried to get her to sleep in my bed once or twice, she high-tailed it off as soon as she could. She knew she didn't belong there, LOL!

So ... do you have Komondors, then?

Yes, my princess: kitty sleeps right next to me every night, usually on top of the covers. If it's cold out, she'll climb right under the covers and curl up against me. It's like having an extra soft pillow against my stomach or legs. She stays the whole night. :cloud9:

You mean like this?

Actually she sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed. She only jumps in when I get up in the morning to take a shower. This is how I find her when I come out of the shower to get dressed!

If DH is away, the dog gets to sleep with me. If the dog is sick, he gets to sleep with us. Other than that he sleeps in his crate, which he really likes. I think he thinks it's his bedroom.

Notice to people who visit my home.

1. The dog's lives here. You don't.

2. If you don't want dog hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.

3. Yes, they have some disgusting habits. So do I and so do you. What's your point?

4. OF COURSE they smell like a dog.

5. It's his nature to try to sniff your crotch. Please feel free to sniff his.

6. I like him a lot better than I like most people.

7. To you they are dogs. To me they are adopted kids who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these things.

8. Dogs are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about whether they have the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college

I have a 9 year old toy poodle and she has slept with me under the covers, of course, since i got her at 12 weeks!

:dog:

One out of our three cats does, she won't let the other two anywhere near the bedroom. She's the boss. :cat: :cat: :cat:
