yeah, we have a cat (pure white) that we rescued from a parking lot back in August and she sleeps at the foot of my bed everynight. We named her Snowwhite

We have a breed that you have to remain very diligent about maintaining ALPHA status. Sharing the sleeping area with the alpha moves the dog up significantly in the pack order. We never want our dogs to get the idea that their pack order is right up there with us and above the kids. Way too dangerous. They get to sleep on the floor or in their crates like the bottom of the pack order they are. They are the gentlest and most loyal of dogs as long as they know their place in the pack. But our dogs are LGD's (livestock guardian dogs) bred for thousands of years to make their own decisions and if they think they are alpha and making the decisions, it can get pretty difficult.
Besides, being livestock guardian dogs, they don't want to sleep with us. If not in their crates, one dog will sleep downstairs by the front door, the other will sleep at the top of the landing, where she has an eye on all four bedroom doors and can keep an eye out to make sure nobody comes up those stairs while her "flock" sleeps the night away.
Besides, sharing a bed with two 100+lb dogs with cords that go everywhere just isn't pleasant. Getting whipped by a cord across the face as they move in the middle of the night is not the way I like to wake up![]()

kitty sleeps right next to me every night, usually on top of the covers. If it's cold out, she'll climb right under the covers and curl up against me. It's like having an extra soft pillow against my stomach or legs. She stays the whole night.
