Do you wearyour wedding set everyday?

I wear my rings all the time. I could tell you it's because they symbolize my relationship, but that would be a lie. I wear them because they're pretty! If I didn't love my wedding set, I would feel no need to wear it just because it was my wedding set. My rings don't make me any more or less married. But I really do love my rings and enjoy wearing them.

Until I damaged a prong & lost my diamond.

I was devastated.

DH had a new head and diamond set for our anniversary. Now I just wear a simple band for every day, and save my diamond ring for special occasions.

I used to until I became pregnant with DS12. Then I started just wearing my diamond anniversary band (my wedding set no longer fit...swollen fingers). I did that until July of last year. While at WDW I had taken it off and put it in the room safe (we were going to the water parks...for some reason I equated that to mean no jewelry). Anyway, DH shuffled the contents of the safe around and my ring was moved. He didn't notice until he tried to shut the safe and it wouldn't shut. My ring was pinched in the hinge and now it's oval shaped!

So, I got out my wedding set (which now fits again) but quickly stopped wearing my engagement ring. It just gets in the way, snags on things and I'm constantly taking it off so I can put hand lotion on. I'm currently wearing only my wedding band.

Get it fixed! Gold is a relatively soft metal and will wear down. It depends on your setting, too - I have diamonds in my wedding band and the prongs need repair every few years or so.

My mother DID lose her diamond - one day she just looked down and the band was there but the stone had fallen out. Fortunately for her, she found it in the laundry tub (who knows why it didn't go down the drain!) and had it reset. She continued to wear it every day.

I also used to wear mine every day. Until my diamond fell out one day when I was pg with dd and on jury duty. Talk about a bad day. I never found it. That was 7 years ago, and I've just been wearing the band ever since. I have thought about the diamonique rings also, but wondered how long they would last, and a lot of them are TOO big to be believable. PLEASE don't wear it until you get it fixed. I wish I had gotten mine looked at.

Married 32 years and I rarey wear mine and I woud prefer is husband wore his less when doing anything around machinery. I love my rings but I like our fingers better. In HS I had my class ring on and was trying to calm down a horse. My hand was hoding to the halter abouve his nose. He reared, my finger was stuck. Major damage to the ring and a few broken fingers. You woud not believe how many men lose fingers or arms by getting caught in machinery.
Not saying not to wear them or cause worry but there are times when you shouldn't and I sure they have great sentimental feelings to you.

I wear mine all the time - I would rather pay to fix it every 15 years than not wear it. I have it insured on my homeowners and take it in every few month to the jewler to have it checked and rhodium plated. I love that my ring is from Jared and that they can fix and rhodium plate in house so it is much quicker to get it back.

I get mine checked every 6 months to make sure the prongs haven't been damaged. I started doing this after being at a concert with a friend who lost her 1.5 carat diamond while there. She realized while in the bathroom after the concert had ended and was devestated. We went back into the arena to look around our seats but we had been on the floor and they had already removed the seats and brought out the giant, zamboni-looking floor cleaner! The very gracious maintenance staff drained the cleaner for us in a maintenance room and allowed us to sift through the debris... ewwwww... and we FOUND IT! I still can't believe we found it. Definitely taught me a lesson about maintenance on my own ring!

My husband keeps his gold wedding band on his keychain, because he is an electrician and can't wear gold jewelry for safety reasons. So, we found polished block rock rings (can't remember the name) that he wears instead. They are very handsome looking. But if he were to get caught on something, all he would have to do is give it a small wack with a tool, and it would break in half. We have gone through 3 already (they are not expensive at all).

I wear my band and engagement ring every day. That's what they are meant for.

I take mine in every 6 month to Shane Co to be inspected an cleaned. They guarantee it, but it has to be signed every 6 months. It’s been 4 years. I like to get it cleaned so just do it when I am there.
I wear my wedding band every day, but lately not the e-ring. It’s tad tight. it’s has pave diamonds and I don’t want to re-size it. long story short my first e-band was sized once to fit my finger and it always lost diamonds, which they just popped back in every time, but it became a huge pain and after a huge fight they gave me a new one.

I would pay the money and fix it now. you never know when the diamond would fall out.

I've been married 22 years & couldn't imagine not wearing my rings any more than I could imagine not sleeping next to my husband. Having said that, I did loose a stone last month because I broke a tip on my ring. The stone was a sapphire so it was inexpensive to replace. The jeweler re-tipped the ring at the same time. Couldn't wait to get the ring back on my finger!

If my rings still fit, I would wear it. When it did fit, I usually took it off at home. Cleaning up after toddlers is messy. My wedding band is a wrap, so you need the engagement ring to wear it. The prongs are set high, so they get in the way alot. I don't have a problem wearing another ring, but I like real diamonds. Guess I'll just have to wait until I lose weight or my husband buys me a new one. I've had it resized up once & I refuse to go any higher, I just know one day I'll stick to a diet.

Brought my wedding ring of 15 years in to be cleaned yesterday and had a rude awakening. My prongs holding my diamond in are so worn down that they are flush to the diamond. The jeweler told me I should get a new head put on or I am in danger of losing my diamond My husband suggested I don't wear it everyday and only on special occassions but I feel an emotional attachment to it. Do you have a ring you wear as a replacement for your wedding ring for everyday? I was looking at the diamonique rings on QVC.

I wear mine everyday. I also take my set to my jeweler every 8-12 months to have the prongs checked and have it professionally cleaned. It was a huge investment, and even with insurance, it cannot be replaced. I think of you jeweler as the mechanic of my ring.

I get my ring checked every 6 months or so at the jeweler from whom my husband bought it. They have a policy that if I bring it in twice a year for cleaning/checking, that if/when it loses a stone, it will be replaced and repaired free of charge. I bring my paperwork each time and they sign it, so I have a record of the service. I've had my ring for 10 years now and the jeweler said it still looks like it is in good shape; I wear it every day. If you decide to replace your ring, maybe you could look for a jeweler who has a similar policy, so you don't need to worry about wearing it every day.

I do not wear mine when I sleep. I do not wear it if I am doing very "dirty" work, such as heavy yard work, or heavy cleaning where there will be chemicals involved. I do wear it to work and socially all the time...it is on my finger for a good portion of every day. Like others have said, it is not the ring that makes me married, it is a symbol for the marriage.

I am probably looking down the gun at replacing or at least redoing my engagement ring setting sometime this year. The band where it rubs on my palm is getting thin...I got it in 1990, so it's going on 21 years! I also noticed that the heads of the prongs seem to be getting a little flat. I tell myself that the diamond is the important part and the setting is just the "holder" for the diamond. DH has mentioned maybe adding a diamond of some sort on either side of my engagement diamond because we will be married 20 years this year...sort of one diamond for every 10 years. We'll see....

I never take my wedding band off. My diamond is a family heirloom and I only wear it sometimes. I don't wear it while house cleaning or anything like that and only sometimes when I go out. The band is getting thin and worn and I don't want anything to happen to it.

My husband bought my engagement ring at our small town jewelry store, they told him to have it checked every 6 months.
Today I took that ring back to the same store (thanks to this thread) and sure enough I need a new head. He did give me the option to replace the ring but he said that it isn't thin enough yet to worry about replacing the band and I will get some more wear out of it. I have worn that ring everyday for 28 years so I am lucky that I haven't lost the stone.

I've been married 17 years and about 10 years ago I bought a diamonique set (Epiphany) from QVC and that is what I wear everyday. I always get compliments on it and no one knows the difference. And if I lose it, no big deal.

I used to wear mine everyday, until I got pregnant. I retained water like it was my job, and had to stop wearing my wedding set at about 4 months.

I ended up having to get it sized when it still didn't fit, even though I had lost all of the baby weight, 6 months post-partum. I was really excited to start wearing it again, but wouldn't you know it, the first day I had it back on I managed to scratch my poor DS! It was a nasty scratch and it bled, and he and I both cried, and I put the ring back in the jewelry box.

I'm sure I'll wear it again when he gets a little older, but by that point I'll probably be preggo with #2 and start the cycle all over again!

I broke a prong on a shopping cart! I took it to our local jeweler who retipped it and it lasted a month. Took it to another jeweler who replaced all 6 prongs and it only cost a little more, it's been fine since then. You should get them checked yearly and carry insurance on it just in case the diamond should fall out. My rider on our insurance is $6.00 a year.
