Do you wearyour wedding set everyday?

Wedding band I almost never take off, engagemnt ring I almost never put on.

I adore wearing a wedding band, it makes me feel so special, but the engagemnt ring is just annoying to me. I am not a big jewelry person though. The only thing I ever wear is my wedding ring.

This! My band has channel set diamonds, so a little prettier than just a plain band. My engagement ring is a sapphire and I pretty much only wear it when we go out. Most evening at home even my wedding band ends up on my little ring holder. I'm just not a jewelry person, don't have pierced ears, don't wear a watch. I'm also one of those people who's really bothered by tags and seams in clothing, so I think I'm just highly sensitive to anything on my body. Certainly doesn't make me feel less married! :lmao: I've even joked about just getting a wedding band tattoo and being done with it! My parents never even had wedding bands and they have been married 51+ years.

I am rarely without my rings. We have been married for 23 years. My original engagement ring was a 1 carat Marquise solitaire. I had a gold wedding band with some etching on the edges. When I got pregnant with DD, I wore only the band due to the swelling. I put the engagement ring into my jewelry box for a few months. In that time. DH snuck the ring out of my jewelry box & had it re-set. He had a set made with my engagement ring in the center of a wider band with 9 small diamonds on each side. He has since bought me a diamond anniversay band that I wear on the bottom of the new set. I have broken prongs over the years, but I get it checked occassionally. My raings mean so much to me for many reasons, but especially since DH had them custom made for me using my original ring.

not only do i wear my wedding set, i wear another solitare on my right hand, 2 pairs of diamond studs in my ears & my tennis bracelet every single day

i like my bling, can't enjoy it sitting in my jewelry box & im certainly not going to take it with me;)

i don't consider any of my jewelry true investment pieces, if i did, i'd get an insurance rider as do my friends.

I would get the head fixed. It won't cost that much and since you love your rings so much it makes no sense to just wear them on occasion. When my husband and I got married we only had bands. Now after almost 12 years I am getting a diamond and plan on wearing it every day. I am so excited..:cool1:

I have been married almost 19 years and have never removed my wedding band. I always where my engagement ring too, as well as a jacket, although I do take those off to clean them occasionally. I'm thinkin' that I should maybe get the diamonds checked, huh?

My parents have their 50th anniversary coming up in June & my Mom has NEVER taken off her wedding band. Same with my MIL, who would have been married almost 51 years (if my FIL didn't pass away).

I've got lots of bling but I usually ony wear them when we go out. Each peice has a different story and who gets what (my kids) depends on the story!:lmao: I have my favorite pieces then I have some that you just have to laugh.
I'll bore you with a story.DH bought me a tiny 13 diamond ring for my pinky if I would stop biting my nails. It was $79 30 years ago. I got it appraised about 15 years later & put it the insurance. A few years later we went to a Buffett concert in Pitt and I must have lost it tucking in my shirt. I made him go search the port a pot:eek: for it. Didn't find it and he refused to drain the pot. Insurance paid out $600 and I found one on Ebay about 5 years later. I swear it is the same ring because one stone was aways set crooked.

Moral of the story; Get insurance if you've had your stuff a long time. It's amazing how much it has increased in vaue.
I never considered it an investment but it is fully insured and reappraised each year on a seperate policy from our home owners and so is DH's.

BTW, I do like my tennis bracelet and probaby coud never have it replaced even insured.

I would feel naked !! After 43 years I actually am on the second set. Wore the original plum out. But had had prongs repaired several times. And when we hit 30 I got my upgrade. It is the first thing I take off when I get in the house. And the the last thing I put on when I leave.

:rotfl: I feel like the bad wife! My husband and I hardly ever wear our wedding rings! My husband has a good excuse, he cannot for safety reasons wear his at work. I just don't like the feeling. My engagement ring the center diamond is raised pretty high and I often bang it on things, and have scratched my husband with it:laughing: I guess I could just wear my wedding band, this is something my mil has expressed great distaste that I don't always have my wedding band on. She has worn her's everyday for 30+ years. I just feels weird to constantly have a ring on and I don't like washing my hands with it on or anything. I will wear them on occasion, sometimes when we have a dinner night or just because, but more than often I don't wear them at all.

I don't take mine off, except every couple of days to look at my skin. After 5 years of marriage, I learned I was allergic to the alloy metals in gold (talk about a nasty rash!) and had to go a couple of months without rings. My DH replaced them with platinum rings. That was 6 years ago, but I still check.

Thanks for the reminders in this thread! I ought to get my rings into the jeweler!

I wear mine every day. Engagement and wedding band. I'm on my third engagement diamond and 4th wedding ring. I still have my original diamond set in a right hand 3 diamond ring and my original wedding band. I've upgraded my diamond. My current engagement ring diamond was my 25th anniversary gift and it's big, but I wear it everyday. This year is our 30th and I'm going to upgrade my bar set diamond wedding band to larger stones. I also wear a solitaire pendant, tennis bracelet and diamond studs just about everyday. On the days I don't, I wear some of my other nice jewelry. DH loves to buy me nice things and I wear them. The bigger pieces are all insured. I love my bling.

I do get the prongs checked regularly, but since I've changed rings several times over 30 years, the prongs don't wear out. I also have 6 prongs so if one gets bent or broken, the diamond won't fall out.

Will be married 13 years on Monday. I wear my wedding band, engagement ring and eternity band every single day. The bands have channel set diamonds and the engagement is a 1 carat princess cut solitaire. I have all rings checked every 6 months faithfully -- papers signed and rings cleaned at the same time. I do have insurance riders on my rings and a diamond heart pendant that hubby gave me for our first Christmas together. I thought I had lost the pendant one day and called hubby in tears. (Found it lying next to my car in the parking garage at work.) We got a stronger chain and added an insurance rider to our policy that very night.

I can't imagine not wearing my rings or pendant every day. I wear my rings to bed and remove the necklace at night. I would feel naked without these tokens of love.

The first time I was married, I had just a band and when hubby (#2) proposed, I wanted an engagement ring. I suppose I felt a little gyped by not getting one the first time.

I've had the tips repronged once -- seems like it was within tthe first couple of years, but have not had it done since.

I can't imagine just wearing my rings just for special occasions, but that's just me.

I wear mine everyday. I take the rings off for heavy cleaning, dishes and when I sleep (I swell up like a balloon every night!). I don't feel right with them on.

I also get them inspected/cleaned every 6 months. The Jeweler we bought them from does this for free. I have one prong showing some wear but nothing serious at this point. I asked how much it is to replace prongs and she said because of the unique style of my ring I am probably looking at around $75 (maybe less) per prong. My husband and I don't consider that a HUGE expense to incur once every 10 years or so. The rings are more important to me than $300.

We really are a lot alike. My band is also channel set with diamonds. I also don't have pierced ears, never have, nor do I wear a watch. I just don't like the way it all feels. When Dh and I were talking about marriage I said I didn't want a big ring How lucky was he? :rotfl: He bought what I wanted, small, and it still bugged me. I had the diamond lowered and it still bugged me, so I never wear it.

And funny you mention the tattoo. DH is planning on doing that. He hates his too, never wears it. Doesn't bother me at all, he talks about me enough, everyone knows he's mine. But he wants one, he likes it in theroy, he just finds it uncomfortable, and I get that!

We don't feel any less married either, not at all.

i haven't worn mine in about 9yrs. married 11 1/2. during my last pregnancy, my fingers swelled (August baby!), and after he was born, my allergy to nickel was even worse. i'm allergic to my rings.

in about 2008 i think, i ordered a diamonique ring off QVC b/c it was platinum clad. and while platinum is hypoallergenic, no way was i putting out $$$$ for a ring i could potentially be allergic to. the ring is beautiful, i am not allergic, but i still don't wear it! after not wearing one for so long, it's hard to get used to it again and i also work in a preschool (germs! paint! glue! etc). i will find it for special occasions or if i'm in the mood to wear jewelry. i also decided i really do not want or need to buy a platinum ring. and the quality of the diamonique ring is great, i highly recommend it! it's also cheap enough that you can replace it if you get tired of it!

Okay, I just had to post again to say.....

Thanks alot for bringing this up. :headache:

I had nightmares about losing, bending, breaking my wedding rings all night last night. UGH!!!
Seriously, I think I had four seperate dreams about damaging my rings.

Maybe I should quit Dising before bedtime.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled broadcasting. :rotfl:

Ibrought a ring in St Thomas Pink Sapphire little off subject but i have not wore it yet as i want to take it to a jeweller to check prongs lot of people said had problems with rings from there loose stones hope its ok its pretty .

I wear my wedding band every single moment - I never take it off. I wanted a plain platinum band, otherwise if the band had diamonds I'd worry it would get damaged when cleaning or making meatloaf ;) I wear my engagement ring usually whenever I leave the house, I feel "naked" without it, but I don't wear it to the gym and usually not on vacation (does that mean I'm naked at the gym? LOL!). It's insured and that brings me some comfort, but I would be a basket case if it were lost, damaged, or stolen. I've considered getting a fake ring for vacations but my ring size is a 3.5 and it's hard to find something pretty in that size without having to get it sized, which I'm not willing to spend the money on sizing a fake ring.

I've been married for nearly 38 years. My rings have been on my finger everyday since I got engaged. (except when I had to take them off...hospital, etc)
Just have the prongs checked each year. The jeweler where you got it should be willing to check it for you. Maybe buy an extended warranty.
Enjoy the ring. Have it insured through your home owners policy, then if you lose a stone you can have it replaced.

Enjoy it!!

I have a size 3.5 finger as well. I only wear my wedding set and anniversary
ring my DH gave me for our 20th. It is soooo hard to find rings in this size !!
