Do you wear dresses at the parks when its hot?

For all who wear dresses or skirts....what kind of shoes/sandals do you wear!? That is my main reason for not wearing more skirts or dresses...not sure what I can wear comfortably on my feet that will also look good. L

There are lots of alternatives. If I am doing half days I go for sandals. If it is going to be a full day I wear my toms (I put supportive insoles on them during Disney days) and I also bought some Kate spade keds, much cuter that the sketchers.

I only wear skirts or dresses at the Parks...shorts are too uncomfortable for me (I always feel like I have to pick a wedgie, you know??!!) and I wear flipflops with backstraps because I can't walk comfortably in backless shoes, or a pair of one of my many and various Disney keds/sneakers.

Lots of great ideas here...Those sparkle skorts are so cute - can't remember who mentioned them... will also look into the white sierra ones...

I got these skorts for my last Disney trip and loved them...cool but quick dry...

They were quick to dry, and I must say I appreciated they elastic waistband as the trip progressed! They also transitioned well from day to evening - cute with a Disney t-shirt in the day, then could dress them up a bit in the evening. The picture is a coral color but I had the black and khaki... I do like that some of these suggestions have zippered pockets - these had pretty good pockets but not as secure as zippered ones, of course...

There's not much wind to speak of in the parks. I wore sundresses the whole time on our vacation. It was so much cooler. I wore either just below knee ones, or full length maxis with comfortable sandals and sports bras. It was great. Had no problems on Splash, the other roller coasters etc... I didn't bother with shorts underneath, I didn't find them necessary with longer skirts/dresses.

I'm gonna have to disagree there. I see ladies in the parks in those short "skater" style dresses all the time. If I had a dollar for every time I was flashed when a breeze came up I'd... well I wouldn't be rich but I'd have some nice pocket money. :D The length of dress really matters. Really. I wear dresses often when it's hot. My favorite have about a 36in length. But it would depend on your height. It's mostly older teens and young adults who wear the crazy short ones but I wish they would stop. If you can't bend down to pick up something without mooning everyone you won't be able to do Disney.

There are lots of options. My go-tos are my slip on no laces converse shoes and my Olukai Ohana flip flops - they are the best. Most expensive flip flops I've ever bought but I can walk all day in the parks and my feet feel great. Going two to three times a week year round means they get some serious wear. I swear by them. Check the flip flop shop or the The Walking Company shoe store for good options.

Nope.

Two words.

Chub. Rub.

Nothing words than chaffed thighs.

unless it's blistered feet

body glide is a life-saver, i don't leave home without it. gold bond makes a less expensive product that works just as well, walmart carries it. From your feet to your head, it works anywhere.

unless one's bits are hanging out:scared:park attire gets a fashion 'pass'. Where else can one dress so goofy?:duck:

i'm the one in wicking everything, tshirt/shorts, even down to a hat, underwear & socks:rolleyes1...that is when i'm wearing a broken-in pair of new balance athletics with good support. usually, in a pair of keens, either clearwater for watery days or H20 for heavier walking days.

Hence why i said longer skirts and dresses, below the knee, full length etc ;)

LOL yes, knee-length or below every time...who wants to have (or see) their butts hanging out all over the place??!! :crazy2:

For shoes I actually live in my croc flip flops at Disney. I wear them the entire time, they are comfy for me. My feet tend to sweat when they are covered so flip flops work well for me and look cute with a dress. Not everyone can wear flip flops but I have no issues with them.

Please, tell me more about these flip flops. I looked at them, and I'm intrigued. Definitely pricey, though! How long do they last? Do they provide good support?

I too wear dresses with shorts underneath for the chub rub. I usually wear Capri length yoga pants, though. I find they are most comfortable in the heat, prevent chub rub, and dry quickly.

All the Olukai flip flops are really nice but the Ohana style fit me best. They are particularly good for high arches and give great support. I feel like they adjust my posture slightly for the better as well. I have Mizuno running shoes that are awesome but my feet are equally comfortable in the Ohana's. If you have a flip flop store near you (there's one at Florida Mall in Orlando) they have them there or you can look online to find where they are sold. It's nice to be able to try them on and see what works best for you. I have a friend who recommended them to me who has hers for six years and they are still going strong. :)

To the question of what shoes to wear with skirts, several people here recommended sandals when I asked that question. Merrill, crocs, teva, kamik and others have very cute athletic sandal styles that look cute with my dresses. My favorites are my kamik mustiques and teva veras. I haven't worn them in the parks yet, but I've been breaking them in walking the kids to school.

I almost always wear sundresses at the parks and I wear my Reef flip flops with them. I have never worried about high winds or flashing anyone. My girls both wear sundresses too. I will wear shorts or Under Armour running shorts too with tanks but I find myself more cool if I wear a dress.

I normally wear a skater dress and Vans, or shorts and Vans. Comfortable enough for a days moving around, both dry out quickly after Splash Mountain and loose enough that I can get out of Space Mountain and off the Carousel without flashing my pants to the world. Though in all honesty, I'd rather be cool and comfortable over protecting the masses from an accidental underwear flash.
