Do you wear dresses at the parks when its hot?

I prefer shorts under dress over shorts and shirt or just dress because:

Dresses are cuter to me, and light and airy and not clingy around the waist.

The shorts I wear are super thin and unstructured so would look awkward visible with a shirt, yet are super comfortable and in the small chance my dress lifts up for any reason, less is shown than undies.

I am just under 5'2" and under 120 lbs but my thighs still rub together even as petite as I am! Thin, fitted shorts help better than regular shorts in preventing chaffing.

just a tip for the ladies who layer the spandex to counter chafing -- there is a lighter alternative. Search bandelettes.com. I became a believer last summer -- they stay in place all day, even in the most humid conditions, are super light, and zero chafing after a lot of walking.

For all who wear dresses or skirts....what kind of shoes/sandals do you wear!? That is my main reason for not wearing more skirts or dresses...not sure what I can wear comfortably on my feet that will also look good. L

Nope.

Two words.

Chub. Rub.

Nothing words than chaffed thighs.

A little tmi...sorry.

I am not a fan of skirts and dresses in super hot weather. You know when you sit down and your thighs kinda splay out ? (Sounds dirty haha...no other way to explain it) I hate dresses and shorter shorts because of the feeling when you are sitting and all sweating and the chafing.

I always go for Bermuda length or capris.
If I wear the dress, it when we are walking around resort or going to dinner.

Also to another posters point...not sure what I would shoes to wear with dress. Maybe something like sperrys?

This question comes up regularly; I think if you do a search on 'sketchers' you'll probably find most if not all of the relevant threads. After reading one of them, I bought a pair of Sketchers Go Walks. I haven't had a chance to actually wear them in the parks yet, but I've been breaking them in and seeing how they look with all my favorite dresses. It's a nice sporty-cute look.

I like wearing summer dresses too. Coming from the UK I die in the summer heat in Fl. I'm clearly not very modest as I didn't think about my people seeing my pants getting out a ride haha. Oh well as long as they're clean :p

I do agree with the chafing situation though, I get it badly through tights too, so I'll definitely look into wearing my gym shorts as they're the shiny cycle material! Good points guys!

I love wearing dresses to the parks. I will wear bike shorts underneath if I have plans for Space Mountain or other "awkward" rides. I just like the way a dress feels better than I like the way a top & shorts feel.

Also, shorts + 90 degree weather + exposed surfaces = butt burn. That doesn't happen with dresses!

I often wear maxi dresses to the parks, but no shorts underneath unless I'm wearing a shorter dress. Body Glide is fabulous if you're worried about chafing!

Sadly it wears off when you're too hot and sweaty and after so long (5 marathons - all over 6 hours - under my belt so I know whereof I speak). I guess if you're prepared to reapply, go for it, but I've found it super hard to reapply when it's sweated off - and you have to reapply more often then.

Easier to wear shorts or capris.

My DD's and I love wearing sundresses, with things they call "slip shorts" underneath. I don't remember the brand, but we get them at Target in the underwear dept. :) They are very thin, light, don't make us sweat, but make wearing dresses in the August heat just wonderful!!!

I've found generally for a day in the park that it works great for me. Unfortunately, I've found even with capris or shorts I still need to use the Body Glide, particularly if it's a hot day and I'm going to be doing a lot of walking, or I still wind up with some chafing near the tops of my legs.

Different things work for different people :)

OT question for those who use Body Glide - would it be possible to use it on your feet, like to prevent blistering or "sticking" from shoes/sandals? (Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but I'm imagining it as some type of balm & am wondering if it would work!)

I only wear dresses in the summer (at home and WDW, no micro-mini... too old for that now but usually knee or right about knee length). Since I've been wearing them for years I can get in and out of rides without embarrassing myself but you do have to take a little extra care so you don't flash others.

I just find it easier to pack (5 days = 5 dress) and dress to make it to the parks extra early. Also MUCH cooler for me
