Do you walk from BCV to MGM?

How many of you walk to MGM from BCV (and back) and is it better than driving (or taking the bus) especially after Fantasmic? Thanks!

We walk generally both ways. If a boat is there and it is not crowded we may divert and use the boat (more likely to do this when the weather is bad) otherwise we enjoy the walk.

We have "walked the walk" from MGM to the BCVs many times after Fantasmic and often beat the boat back! The lines for the boat may be long and walking back sometimes is a lot quicker. It is not a real long walk, but it is doable!

All the time! It's a great walk! The only time I will take the boat is if it's mid-day and hot, hot, hot (and the boat's at the dock and not crowded).

I don't believe there is bus service between MGM and BCV.

I would certainly walk. It's about a 20-30 minute walk from MGM. I can't believe that you would be able to get to your car, onto the road, and back to your resort in much less time. If you're leaving right after Fantasmic, you'll certainly be in parking lot gridlock for a while.

We drive. We haven't tried the walk yet.

If we're going in the am and my huband is not along, DS2 and I will sometimes take the boat because he loves it. It is the proverbial slow boat though. I would not want to wait for it after Fantasmic.

If you're going over to MGM in the late afternoon or early evening, it is often easy to park close enough to the entrance to just walk. We've had no problem driving back to BCV. Perhaps 5 minutes tops once we get to the car. Just be sure to head straight out of the parking lot toward BW and then under the canal.

We always walk - makes me feel better about stopping at Beaches 'n Cream once I get back!!!!

Thanks for the info. We almost always drive but now that my kids are older we thought maybe we should try walking!!

We do both. Just depends on the lines for the boats. The walk is nice though.

We're boat people. We're not worried as much about time, but conserving every last bit of energy for walking around the park! ;)

In the past I've measured many distances around the resorts using my GPS receiver. I didn't measure the MGM-BWV distance directly but did do the MGM-BWV and the full loop around the Epcot resorts lake, inclluding the distance from BWV to BCV, so based on those numbers the walk from MGM to BWV is right at 1-mile in length.

Incidently, that's exactly the same distance as 1-loop around the World Showcase at Epcot.

At a quick 3 mph pace, that's a 20 minute walk.
At a normal 2-1/2 mph pace, it's 25 minutes.
At a leisurely 2 mph pace, it's 30 minutes.

Hope that helps.

I just did this today with my 7 and 8 year old. The way there was hot, it was about 1:00. It took about 25 minutes. We walked back at about 8:00 and it was nicer because the sun was down.

Terry,

I hope you are having a great time! Are you at the BCVs? Enjoy the sun and warmth, we have a frost/freeze warning in effect for tonight!

We love the walk from BCV to MGM! We enjoy the quiet stroll with no "boat noise" to talk over. Since we very rarely encounter other people while walking, it makes WDW feel like our own private resort. :p

I did one morning, just to see how far it was while everyone was getting ready. I got far enough down the path to see the gates and back in less than 20 minutes from BWV. Its too long a walk for what was my four year old, and with all the walking we were making my mother in law do, we thought we'd save her feet as well. But if it were a trip of healthy younger adults (younger than 70) or older kids (older than four), it would be easy enough.

We walk. I do really enjoy this walk as I walk three miles at home every day.

Thanks Pinnie! It is beautiful here! My mom told me that it was cold there last night. Yes, we are at BCV and were are having a wonderful time as usual!

We love to walk so if we're not staying at BWV or BCV we still use the free valet parking, then walk to MGM and Epcot. We usually only spend 3-4 days of a 7-day vacation in the parks, so we'll even walk to MGM, then walk all the way back to do Epcot in the same day. Just make sure you have comfy shoes!
