Do you tip when you're staying at DVC on your points & only get trash & tidy?

If I saw housekeeping stretched out on our bed, I wouldn't tip either, but I won't penalize all housekeeping staff on a permanent basis because of the transgressions of a couple. I feel, as a whole, the housekeeping dept is good and are deserving of a tip regardless of whether disney specifically states it is. We tip $3-$5 on T&T day, depending on the size of the villa, and then again about $5 on check-out day.

Well, it's not that I think the mousekeepers need to all be penalized now, that's not it at all!

It's just that I used to read all these posts about how hard it is to do housekeeping and what a miserable thankless job it is, and then I see the whole lounging on the bed thing and I can't help but think that they can't be working any harder than I do when I'm cleaning my house.

I actually worked as a maid to earn money the summer before I went to college, so I'm not ignorant on any front as to what's involved. Frankly, I just don't think it's that tough. I do housekeeping (maybe I should call it mousekeeping!) every day, and my kids don't leave tips on my mirror! It's just part of the job as mom and head domestic engineer to keep the place clean and running. Well, sorta clean and mostly running, I'm no Bree Vandekamp!

There are many jobs that one can consider not that tough but we tip anyway (i.e. valet parking and hairdressers). I just feel cleaning up after one's own family (which I'm sure mousekeeping has to do with their own families as well) and cleaning up after vacationers (for minimum wage)---many who probably don't give a hoot how they leave the place---are two entirely different things. I have witnessed the conditions of many hotel rooms when I walk by :scared1:
Now this is just my opinion and it may differ from yours and that is fine. Just because you saw a couple lounging on the bed at the AS doesn't mean all housekeepers don't work hard on a regular basis though ? I don't think this is standard routine on the part of mousekeeping by any means and I personally feel the majority work hard and do a good job. For me, that is deserving of a tip. I totally understand how some don't feel this way.
