Do you tip housekeeping for DVC?

I know I don't HAVE to tip housekeeping at WDW but I almost always leave a few dollars a day when we stay on property before we were DVC members.
Now I am wondering if any of you that tipped before you were members, still tip as members? Just wondering if that would be considered part of our membership fees? I just don't want to feel guilty about not leaving anything extra unless the service is exceptional.

We've always tipped Mousekeeping, and will continue to do so. Just not as frequently, since we don't get daily service as DVC members.

I leave a tip at T&T and again at the end of the stay. I also tip if HK needs to bring something to the room.

I've also left special tips for exceptional service twice - once, for service above and beyond on T&T day, and once for an exceptional room at check-in. Both times, I called housekeeping to find out the name of the specific person responsible and left a tip and note at concierge for them.

We don't tip unless something is above and beyond and then we tip very well. We often don't get mousekeeping...we have shorter trips...we have often had trips where we were supposed to have mousekeeping and they didn't come (we linked ressies). We were okay with that...I really have grown to love not having that daily intrusion. In the old days it always seemed they came when you didn't want them there. Nowadays, I just make the bed and re-use towels. Just my 2 cents...

I tipped when departing after my last stay. Left the money with a cast member at the check-in desk. After I spoke with her, I wished I'd left a little more.

She told me the housekeeping staff, being in gratuity positions, don't earn what non-tip positions earn. They really depend on guests leaving gratuities. I hadn't realized that before, figuring that they at least made what other cast members earned and tips were just "extra." Not so. I guess the bell caps make even less than housekeeping.

I know there is the occasional complaint about housekeeping; that's inevitable. But I'd really hate to depend on tips to earn a living.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on tipping housekeeping. Another poster understood it to be a non-tipping position.

Regardless, I always tip housekeeping $2 - $5 per day. Depending on the mess we make and the number of beds to be made. We seem to get better service when we tip. You want your room cleaned early? TIP!

We tip T&T and at the end of our trip if the room was VERY clean when we arrived. I never thought about asking who actually cleaned the room before we arrived. Good idea.

I usually tip at the end of the completed stay, but it sounds like it's a good idea to tip each day as you go along - or at least on the T&T days....good idea.

I would really like to know the truth on if they are a "non tipping/or tipping" position. This is such a controversial topic on Dis. I tend to think they are paid salary or hourly wages. I would think if they low wages like wait staff workers before tips..... there would be some mention of this in our villas. I mean....every bill we get from a table service restaurant has the 18% and 20% suggested tip on the bill.

Whatever mousekeeper wages may be, it isn't enough. Their work directly affects the quality of my stay. I have seen what some people do to rooms and I hope that I never have to do this type of work. Leaving a tip is appreciated for financial reasons, but I think it also is important in acknowledging mousekeeping as a valued service. I know that letters to management about good service are also much appreciated and I always do this when appropriate. I would be willing to bet that Disney has a hard time finding and keeping good personnel in these positions. Anything I can do to help in this regard, I will do.
Ever notice the percentage of mousekeepers who are female and/or people of color? Ever wonder why?

I always try to tip, but there have been occasions when I haven't- completely inadvertently. Once, Mousekeeping came the day before my scheduled T&T day and I didn't have the tip set out yet. Another time, I put the tip under the little "note from housekeeping" tent thingy, but the housekeeper didn't take it. Regardless, I always make sure I leave something on check-out day. And now I put the tip out the day before my T&T day with a "Thanks, Mousekeeping!" note, just in case!

You know I have tipped for most of my trips over the years.....but have not always tipped since becoming a DVC member last Jan. Well I take that back. I did tip last summer when we switched rooms due to a problem and waited all day for a new 2 bedroom....just to find out that the villa had never really been serviced. So they sent someone over and I tipped that lady 15 bucks. BUT WE WEREN'T SCHEDULED FOR A FULL CLEANING because we were only there 5 nights and we switched on day 3. Then when we stayed at BWV we were there for 3 nights. Anyway..... She worked really hard by herself that day that we moved and the room was filthy. I was there doing laundry at the time. Anyway......on T and T day....I personally don't see a reason to tip because my dh takes our trash out as needed and sometimes I wash/dry towels so they are just coming in briefly to put in fresh towels if needed and give new shampoos.
