Do you tip housekeeping for DVC?

We tip $3 to $4 dollars on T&T days and $10 dollars on full cleaning days. I've never thought to tip on move out day.

As for whether housekeeping is a tipped position or not - I'd lean toward not or we would have heard about it. I live in California where there are no "tipped" positions that make sub minimum wage so it really doesn't matter to me whether the mousekeeper is making $3.00 per hour, $6.55 per hour, or $8.00 plus per hour; I tip because I like to say thank you. I'd actually rather tip a mousekeeper (because its truly a thank you instead of an expected part of a person's "wages") than a server.

We tip for T&T and at the end of our stay. I tip in Motel/Hotel rooms as well.

Always!!
$5.00 for T & T. $20.00 at end of stay.:)

Gives my toothbrush peace of mind :lmao:

Although it doesn't directly address the question, the Walt Disney World career site notes that housekeeping starts at $8.10 per hour.

Well, Disney isn't renowned for overpaying its staff. I was told a year or so ago they had to give cast members $1.00 an hour across the board because they couldn't recruit enough employees. Even the bus drivers told me how little they made. Who can live like that in a place like Florida? (Or anywhere for that matter.)

I suppose going forward, I'd be inclined to tip the housekeeper who prepared my room and remember the person(s) on T&T and check-out as well, since I couldn't be sure they were all the same person.

I can't begin to imagine how some people leave the rooms...wouldn't want to. I do know that the last time I checked in--at the Boardwalk--the couch needed replaced but it wasn't a big issue for me on that stay. I mentioned it to the bellcap. Well, I had THREE housekeeping maids at my door (the maid and two supervisors), within minutes, because the bellcap said the maid who'd done the room up had left dirty linen in the room. Try figuring out that one. I had to firmly decline their offer to immediately replace the couch. I couldn't figure out how "the couch needs replaced" could be translated to "the housekeeper left dirty linen in the room." Any idiot would be able to see I didn't have any dirty linen laying around.

It's a tough job I wouldn't personally care for.

This is exactly the same as we tip. There are 4 of us who stay 5 nights, the youngest is 2, so we're a messy bunch!!

On the last day I'll dump all my change so I don't set off alarms at the airport.

Not a tipped position , but I do leave $5.00 on full cleaning days. I take out all trash, remove the recycling and wash the towels so T&T day I need nothing.

I know it isn't a big deal to many, but when a position is untipped they do not claim the tips and if they are getting an aditonal $50.00 per day ($250. per week, $12,500 per year ) untaxed I guess I do have an issue!

I'm wondering if some formal / informal recoginition program needs to be implemented between DVC members and CM's. IF mousekeeping notices the guests left a really clean room (or big tip) then give the DVC members a little bonus (perhaps as "small" as an extra special towel oragomi) And DVC members get 1 or 2 recognition card in their checkin packet s so front line managers can give recognition to the great CM's.

There was a previous post where someone mentioned that many DVC ownersare more demanding than regular guests (more difficult to keep CM's happy ni DVC properties) Perhaps us owners have become like too many company owners and forgot who makes the magic happen ?

But how do you know the housekeepers aren't claiming their tips?
