If *I* am one of the young lookin' ones....

I smoke - I have since I was 16. I lay out inthe sun and go to the tanning bed, occasionally. I hate water - I never drink it. I dont take vitamins...Ummmm, I drive fast, stay up late, swear like a truck driver.... I do everything youre not supposed to do.

I told you! It *will* catch up!!! One day - POOF! pixiedust:
Yes, you are one of those young lookin ones! And what are you trying to do make us all hate you!!!! :rotfl2: Just kidding. :p

Ahem, note to self:
Take up smoking
Sign up at local tanning salon
Throw out vitamins
Cancel Sparkletts water delivery
Buy faster car
And stay up past midnight
(I already do the "swear like a truck driver part")

Maybe you should publish a book, because what ever it is, it seems to be working for you. ;)

I went through some pictures I have and in some I look every bit my age. Like this one - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mysterychicken/new2.jpg

In others I look younger. Like this - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mysterychicken/kristazoe.jpg
Sorry, that's a HUGE, extreme close up.

And in this one, hiding behind my youngest DD, I look 12 - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mysterychicken/faces1.jpg

I have some where I look older too, but who needs to see that? ;)

Edit - Oh yeah, I'm 33.

Ok, here's another one! I had to track down this picture of me and my dd, taken last summer. I had to take a picture of it since it's not in my computer! I think I look like her sister, not her 30 year old mom! That's OK with me though.

You DO look like her sister! And I  am so  very happy  for you  . Really, they are tears of joy and have nothing to do with the fact that at 34, I look like I could be YOUR mom! I'm fine. See.. :teeth: .

IMO, there is only one person I've seen so far on this thread who looks younger than they are. I won't say who. :teeth: I do think people tend to think their peers look older than they do, its human nature to feel that way. But most people really do look their age.

This is a good point. I think it's the whole perception = reality thing in a way. I feel like I can tell people I'm 25 and they'll think "oh yeah, she looks 25." But I can also tell them my real age, which is 31, and they'll think "oh yeah, she looks 31."

Same with a lot of pictures on this thread. Just looking at the picture, a lot of us initially look younger, but when given the real ages, I can totally see it with just about everyone.

*nodding*

I just turned 41 and get carded too. I don't think it's me looking 20, I think it's some kid born in the 80s CYA and carding everyone :rotfl2:

I have to say I agree, most everyone who posted looks within a couple years of their age except maybe one. That said I do think that 30 and 40 now looks better then 30 and 40 did in the 1950's and 1960's - I think we have learned to take better care of ourselves and I really think it shows in how everyone is gracefully aging or refusing to age nowadays :teeth:

I've been told I look way younger than I am but I think I look my age. Most people guess my age to be about 17. I ran into a friend from high school last week at the grocery store and she was just amazed at how I looked like a teenager still, she just kept going on and on about how young I looked, ugggh let it go woman! I also get carded buying lottery tickets, such a PITA. I've gotten the "look" at bars and clubs when I hand them my ID, they act like I'm trying to pass off a fake. I'm 26 and I think I look 26 *shrugs*

I think, at 61, I am finally aging into my looks. I recall buying beer for the guys and myself, for the first time, just before my 16th birthday, at a neighborhood tavern here in Chicago. Guess I looked at least 21 then.

You do look young!

I think that most people look their age though. I know that I look older than my age right now due to circumstances which can definitely have an effect. :crazy2:

ETA: I FINALLY got that smiley in the right place. See, old age.

I agree that certain circumstances make a big difference. Right now my DH is working nights and I am up waiting for him to come home every night so I go to bed around midnight or 1 a.m. Then I have to wake up around 7 a.m. to get the kiddies ready for school. That's not enough sleep for me and it's starting to show.

Also where you live has got to make a big difference!! Since moving to MI from CA, my hands look like that of a Grandmother's and my skin is so dry between the bitter cold winters and all the forced heat. I hate it.

ETA: You know how they say kids keep you young? Yeah. That's in attitude ONLY people! :rotfl2: My four are sure to give me lots of gray hairs along the way. ;)

Thats something I didnt mention - I nap. I nap like crazy. Weekends around 2-3, Im sleeping, guaranteed.

And when my kids were in school, and I bartended at night - I got them off to school, and zonked until they got out.

NAP!!! :thumbsup2

Right! Lack of rest, poor diet, stress, too much sun, too much forced heat, wind...what am I forgetting? All of those things really add up.

Your post reminded me how I waited and waited to turn 21 so I could officially order a drink in a restaurant.
I was out with a friend and ordered something....a Bailey's Irish Cream, I think. Does that sound right? Anyways, I was waiting to be asked for my ID so I could show off that I was finally 21 and he never asked me!!!! Hello Mister Waiter!! Do you know how freakin long I waited for this moment and you deprived me of my glory.
Oh well. I never had another chance to be carded again because I don't drink, smoke or go to clubs. Gosh, I'm boring!! :rotfl2:

I know I don't look like a 13 year old boy who worships Clay Aiken :thumbsup2

I agree with some others, there was really only one picture posted where it really surprised me to know their age. Not the rest of you look old, you all look great, this one person just really stood out for me.

Judge for yourself - here are some pics of me and my BF:

Bottom two are most recent - taken in Epcot's Kodak thingy in Dec 2005.
I'm 21 [Dec 15 birthday] and my BF is 20 [July 11 birthday].

I don't wear make-up (or jewellery - apart from my belly bar), and don't smoke or drink (although whether that has made any difference to how old I look at this age is debatable!)

Well, I don't have kids! :rotfl:

Seriously, I NEVER tan and use sunblock daily. My mom used Oil of Olay and she had such nice skin at 68 that after 3 months in the hosp. nurses were asking her what she used! SO I use it now too. I think it's genetics more than anything. My dad doesn't look 72 at all. My sis is 47 and people think she's in her 30s.
