Do you think you look your actual age? (UPDATE p. 19, post 272)

*is looking up Meredith on 'Grey's Anatomy'*

I'm pretty sure I don't. I'm 39 and have a daughter that's 20. When I mention it to anyone, the look on their faces is hilarious.

I myself think I look my age of 31, almost 32. But everyone tells me that I look younger than that. I have friends who are 2 years younger, and people think they are older. I think it is a good thing, if I do look younger, especially when I get older.

Haha, I wish. She's quite cute. I think I look more sinister! :sunny:

I'm going to be 36 next month, and most people think I look like I'm 28. I won't complain.

I think I can look my age or look much younger, depending on the circumstances that people see me in. I'm 25, but I still do a lot with my parents, so I think when I'm with them people assume I'm younger (get asked when I'm graduating, what grade I'm in, etc). I dress quite simply, pull my hair into a ponytail almost every day, and don't usually wear any makeup. However, when I'm out with friends and DH (who range in age from 24-29) I think people would definitely guess the correct age for me.

Oh, also, I didn't say!

No one has ever really commented on how old I look - everyone always just tells me that I look ill (I'm anaemic so I'm really pale - my natural skin colour is olive though!). I think I probably look older than my age (although I think I'm doing better than my mother - who looks much older than her age - because I don't drink/smoke/tan, etc.).

I few months back I was refused a lotto ticket [min age 16], until a member of staff pointed out that I worked there and was indeed 20yrs old. The cashier was probably (definitely?) being cautious.

Also, as far as getting carded... I know that over here we're supposed to ID everyone who looks under 40yrs.

For the most part, I think most (all?!) pics I've seen here have people looking their age or +/- 2yrs. I even had my BF do blind tests and he was almost spot on on all of them. As someone else said, I think most people are just nice, or we just don't 'see' ourselves getting older.

I think Jay looks younger than he is.

I'm 27 and I think I look 27. No one has ever said differently.

ETA: Okay, I just asked my dbf and he said I look 24ish. So there ya have it. I look younger. ;)

My friend works in a liquor store and his job is on the line if he doesn't card anyone who looks under 40. I hate to break it to people who think they look 20 years younger, but its just not so....if you are 40 and got carded, you got carded because the liquor store needs to play it safe.

I'm 45. Whenever I see someone my age I think of them as that "older man" or "older lady"....yet I certainly don't think of myself as an older lady. I don't think we see age on ourselves as clearly as we do on other people, probably because we are so used to looking at ourselves that we don't notice changes as much. In reality though, unless someone is very petite with fantastic genetics, most people look within 5 years or so of their age. Just ask the people at the carnivals who guess weight and age.....the house usually wins. :rotfl:

I agree with some others, there was really only one picture posted where it really surprised me to know their age. Not the rest of you look old, you all look great, this one person just really stood out for me.

Hmmm, I'm a little concerned...no one even wants to GUESS my age? Come on...I can take it! :scared:

Okay, I'll give it a try. You look mid to late-30s to me. I'll go with 37. (I'm hemming and hawing between 36 and 37 though).

I am 20, almost 21. I don't really think I look my age, and apparently neither do other people. The other night I was talking to someone, and told them I was a junior in college, and she couldn't believe it- she said I looked "really young." The same thing happened over the summer when I was working at camps. I was talking to one of the mothers, and told her I was going to be a junior in college, and she thought I was still in high school. But this is the best one...I went to a Brewers game (I think it was a couple seasons ago). They had a giveaway, and you had to be 16 or older to get it. Well, at that time I was 18, and so I stick my hand out to get the giveaway, and the guy wouldn't give it to me. He didn't think I was old enough. Even when my dad told him how old I was he didn't believe it.

That (37) was my guess also.

Here's a very dressed-down, everyday pic of me and my dd this past Christmas. Ponytail, glasses, no makeup. You won't hurt my feelings by being honest - do I look 31?
