Do you think the Leap Pad will be hard to get for Christmas?

This seems like it might turn into one of those "hot" toys for Christmas. http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Leap...H07K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317725593&sr=8-1 It is the Leap Pad that is sort of like an ipad for kids. Even my 6 year old wants it and he already has a DS! I'm thinking of ordering one now to make sure I get one. I wonder if there will be any sales on these before Christmas? Right now, it seems to be $99 every where. Thoughts?

I looked at it in the store and it looked cool.

I think Toys R us has $10 gc with a $75 purchase, not positive (it may be a coupon I have) since they send me a million things.

This year I have decided I am not fighting crowds for anything. I have already taken care of my husband's office (he has multiple people reporting to him). I plan to get the rest of my holiday shopping done before November 15.

It could be, they had a ton of them at Walmart last night. They were $99, about $50 cheaper than the deals I saw on LeapFrog.com. My 5 year old wants one, but I think I am just going to get him an I-Pod touch instead. With any luck I will find a LeapPad like I did his Leapster Explorer...I got it brand new in the box at Goodwill on half price day for $12.99!

I think I'll just order one now and be done with it. he actually has an iPod touch already (my DH's hand me down from when he got the iPhone) so I was surprised that he was so interested in this.

My 7 and 4 year old love theirs. If it's on your kids list I would get it early.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was waiting for the newest learning game system from Leapfrog to figure out what to get them for Christmas! This will be perfect for the kids when we go on vacation in the new year. It will be something new to keep them busy on the airplane ride.

YES!! Do not wait! I am putting ours on lay-a-way.

But last year the Fisher-Price iXL was a hot item and thats the ONLY gift my youngest wanted! I waited till Black Friday when I do all of my shopping to go get it well...... =( NOTHING! It was out of stock online and all the stores within a 50 mile radius!! Every week I checked TRU, Walmart, Target, and Meijers in our area by calling each one  I was willing to drive 2 hours to purchase it if needed! Well I got lucky the day before Christmas Eve I happen to be out shopping for a few things and decided to go look and found 1 all alone hidden with the LeapFrog stuff  We were lucky she would have been one sad little girl had it not been under the tree.... Too bad Fisher-Price did not last a whole year, we had all kinds of issues with it before it just died =(

When myself and three FB friends all asked opinions about it on the same day and then it was declared one of the top 15 toys of the season I ordered two (twins) right away. They showed out of stock on Amazon the next day. If it's a must have get it now.

I already bought one for my 4 year old, but she won't get it until Christmas. They look pretty cool and since we already have an Explorer, she has games she can use with it.

My 10 year old was playing with it at Wal-Mart and thought it was really cool. I won't be buying one for her, but if I had a little kid ... I would totally sock one away for Christmas.

Just ordered mine. Last year I was behine the 8 ball for the lalaloopsy dolls, what a nightmare getting it. This year I started early.

Glad I saw this thread. I was thinking of a gift for my niece and just bought the pink one on Amazon. The pink one is in-stock, the green is not.

I saw it in the store and it looked cool. Leapfrog amazes me every year....we are usually not dissappointed.

I just returned from picking up a green one at Walmart. I played around with the in- store demo and it really does look cool. DS will turn 4 in January, so it will either be for Christmas or his B-day. I do plan on opening it and setting it up before giving it to him. It looks a little involved and he is not the patient type.

It was $99 and they only had 2 on the shelf. I figure if the price drops, I can either return it or hope for a price match. At least I have one if it becomes a hot ticket item.

Amazon has them available to order today. They also have a $20 download card for $16, so I got one of those, too. Games were also on sale for less than list price with free shipping!

I've been thinking about one, but I have had a hard time deciding between it and a Mobigo. It feels like Mobigo is geared a bit younger (good for us), but it has less flexibility. The Leappad apps are appealing, but pricy compared to the apps I have on my phone for him.

Does anyone have a Mobigo? Would you recommend it?

In relation to the original point of this thread...I'm thinking of going ahead and getting a Leappad now and then returning/selling it if I change my mind. I'm going to wait until we are 60 days out from Christmas, though, just to make sure I'm in the return window for most places.

My 6 and 4 years old LOVE it (playing it right now). I find the apps are worth every penny. I chocked a little at $20 for the Cars2 ultra E-Book. After getting it I realize it's the equivalent (or better) of a cartridge game. DS6 simply loves this e-book and plays with it constantly!
