My father in law loves cats. Over the years he has rescued many many cats. Currently they have 7 cats living in their house.
Until last week they had 8!!!
Sally is a cat they have had for 10 years. She is an inside/outside cat who has never left the yard for any extended length of time. Sally also likes to pee everywhere....especially on the countertops in my MIL's kitchen!
Instead of my FIL putting the cat outside permenantly, he opted to cover everything in the kitchen in plastic and newspaper, thus making my MIL a prisoner to Sally.
(Yes I know it is disfunctional...can't fix that issue)
Suddenly after 10 years, Sally has been missing for almost 2 weeks. My MIL keeps trying to convince my FIL that someone must have taken her....to a "good" home.
He is baffled. He just can't understand why Sally would run away after all of these years. He is genually upset. I mean this man loves his cats. (obviously more than most because if a cat peed in my kitchen, our family would be light one less cat!)
Something deep inside of me keeps telling me that my MIL is involved. I mean I wouldn't blame her if she did take Sally off and give her away or something....do you think she did it?
Oh let me add that her kitchen is now newspaper and plastic free and she has been cooking and cleaning and having a great time in the kitchen for the past 2 weeks....hmmm

The vet told us it's very common for cats.
