Do you think she did it?

My father in law loves cats. Over the years he has rescued many many cats. Currently they have 7 cats living in their house.:scared: Until last week they had 8!!!:faint:

Sally is a cat they have had for 10 years. She is an inside/outside cat who has never left the yard for any extended length of time. Sally also likes to pee everywhere....especially on the countertops in my MIL's kitchen!:faint:

Instead of my FIL putting the cat outside permenantly, he opted to cover everything in the kitchen in plastic and newspaper, thus making my MIL a prisoner to Sally. :sad2: (Yes I know it is disfunctional...can't fix that issue)

Suddenly after 10 years, Sally has been missing for almost 2 weeks. My MIL keeps trying to convince my FIL that someone must have taken her....to a "good" home.
He is baffled. He just can't understand why Sally would run away after all of these years. He is genually upset. I mean this man loves his cats. (obviously more than most because if a cat peed in my kitchen, our family would be light one less cat!)

Something deep inside of me keeps telling me that my MIL is involved. I mean I wouldn't blame her if she did take Sally off and give her away or something....do you think she did it?:rolleyes2

Oh let me add that her kitchen is now newspaper and plastic free and she has been cooking and cleaning and having a great time in the kitchen for the past 2 weeks....hmmm

Sometimes when cats are old and sick, they run away to die. I don't know why, they just do.

She seemed frisky...like you would never know she was as old as is. They have other cats who are old that you can tell they are old. Sally almost prissed around because she knew she ruled the roost....that is why I can't help but think the MIL had enough.::yes::

Oh yeah my bets go to MIL. My husband told me when he was little his mom married a man who came with a really mean poodle named Pierre. His mom didnt get on very well with Pierre and he said they took him for a ride while her husband was working and dropped him off on a farm. He said that stepfather was crushed to learn that Pierre had "run away" while he was at work. He was so devastated by the loss of his precious poodle that his mom finally went to where she dropped him off and found him still on the farm and brought him home. She told him that he mysteriously showed back up on the doorstep. I cant believe he would ever buy that story but he did.

If it were me that cat would have been gone the first time she peed on my counter.

Oh yeah, I think she did it. And you know what? I would have done it LONG AGO!!!! That cat wouldn't have lasted one day after she did it the first time.

Me too!
Pierre!:lmao:

sad, I didnt know that.

It is sad. My cat couldn't get outside, so he went into the towel cabinet and managed to close the door behind him. We didn't find him for almost two hours. :sad1: The vet told us it's very common for cats.

I'd put money on Grandma having a hand in the "dissaperance"! :rotfl:

I can't say if she did or not but, I wouldn't blame her one bit if she found the cat a new home. I couldn't live like that! Sounds like she is enjoying having her kitchen back. :)

Thanks for sharing. :lmao: My BFF in junior high had a dog like Pierre. Her mother adored that poodle, but everyone else detested it (would bite you whenever possible, jump on your leg, KWIM). That poodle must have been one of Pierre's litter mates.

OP, MIL probably did, but why she didn't do it years ago is a testament to her love for your FIL.

that is true I has a very old cat that i was taking care of b/c the owner was in the hospital and she came up missing we found her several weeks later in the field next to my house. when we started thinking back when she "disappeared" was about the same time the owner passed.

I love the name pierre
:)

My money is on MIL and I wouldn't blame her one bit

No way to know.

Wouldn't blame her if she did.

Sad cat story. My grandma loved cats and usually had one running around. She loved siamese cats and had a precious one named Shemu. My grandparents lived on a farm and raised chickens and cows. Apparently Shemu had eaten a baby chick that my grandpa let roam free and he shot the cat and buried him in the front yard in front of my 6 yr. old cousin! I've never seen my grandma more mad and upset in my life. It also made me lose a lot of respect for my grandpa. Oh well, I'm depressed now. :sad1:

Oh my good Lord, that is one of the most atrocious things I have ever heard. :sad2: :sad1:   :furious:

As for the OP my money is on MIL. I just hope that if she did do it, that she was humane about it.
