Do You Think It's Unusual To Have a Low-Grade Temp with a Head Cold

I started coming down with a cold on Saturday evening. Haven't had a cold in many years.

Anyway, it started with a very mild scratchy throat. By Sunday, the scratchy throat was more pronounced and I could just start to feel funny in my nose. Also had a slight cough.

By Monday afternoon it hit me hard. I was very congested, achy, and miserable. Scratchy throat was gone. I didn't check my temp that day, but felt achy.

I stayed home on Tuesday and monitored my temp. It was about 99.0 - 99.5. Now I realize that this is barely a fever. However, due to a thyroid condition, I do check my temperature when I'm feeling good and I generally run between 98.0 and 98.3. So, I know that 99.0 - 99.5 is elevated for me. I'm assuming I had the temp elevation on Monday also. It is now Wednesday. I don't feel any worse, I don't feel any better. My Motrin is wearing off and the temp is back up again. Is this normal for a stupid cold?

I don't want to run to the doc for this but I also don't want to prolong something bacterial like a sinus infection. I do have some sinus pain but nothing out of the ordinary. I also know that my doc won't give me anything unless I've been suffering with sinus congestion for 3 weeks.

It's just been so long since I've had a cold, I don't quite remember if this is normal or not.
