So I was thinking of planning on a whim of a trip for a 4 day weekend, the weekend before Easter. One, do you think it will be too crowded to get anything done in a weekend. Two, am I nuts to try and plan this in oh 3-4 weeks? Help! Anybody else done this? We are having withdrawl from our trip in December. Oh did I say I was going to try and do this without telling my husband and son. pirate:

We just did a 4 night trip (a couple weeks ago) that we planned on a Friday afternoon and left the next Wednesday morning. So yes it can be done, and it was fantastic. We didn't make any ADR's, plan any park touring, nothing. We just did what we felt like doing when we got out of bed that morning.

And I would think you could plan it without family knowing. The internet is a wonderful thing.

Have fun.

Can't help you with crowd stuff. But seriously, what's so tough about having a month to plan? Like the poster above said, it doesn't HAVE TO take too long. It CAN, but doesn't have to. Especially these days with the Internet, you could do it in less than one hour. REALLY. Decide to stay SOMEWHERE onsite at WDW, then find airfare for your dates from your city, DONE. Everything else is just icing. And this is coming from someone who started planning for my May 2005 WDW vacation in the summer of 2004!
