I have a RO reservation for a LM room at AOA Nov 19-27,2015 and am thinking about canceling it to see if I might get lucky to get PIN, what do you think? At first I was tempted to leave it as a RO to see if maybe it triggers a PIN but the LM rooms are still open so I am thinking about canceling in hopes of triggering a PIN for me. I have seen folks get PINs after they make and then cancel a reservation and get a PIN. When does Disney typically start sending them out? I was also considering paying OOP for my package and hoping to get up graded to a suite in AOA when we arrive but am thinking that might be too risky. Please any and all opinions are welcome, this is our second trip and the last time we went it was with a CM F&F discount.

I think both of those ideas are terrible. The chances of triggering a pin are slim. Super slim. To cancel a reservation to try it is, IMO, silly.

Hoping to get upgraded to a suite from a mermaid room is probably even less likely.

I'm sorry, I'd dream smaller. Your hopes seem a bit high.

The dates you booked include Thanksgiving. There's no guarantee that if you cancel you will get a pin because not everyone who cancels a room gets a pin later and I don't know what the criteria Disney has for sending out pins. However, since the LM rooms fill without being included in many of the room specials that would be an indication that they wouldn't need to send out pins to fill them, especially on Thanksgiving when Disney has little difficulty filling rooms in general.

Upgrades occur for the benefit of the resort; it may be overbooked or rooms have been taken out of inventory for emergency repairs. While some have posted getting an upgrade, considering the total number of rooms available on site, only a miniscule percentage get an unexpected complimentary upgrade.

I wouldn't recommend counting on a pin or an upgrade to get the room you want.

I agree...DON"T DO IT. Pins are generated so randomly that's there's a very, very slim chance of getting one. Many people have gotten pins after booking and keeping the reservation also. There's no rhyme or reason for who gets them.

As for the upgrade to a suite, if that's what you really want, then book that. Chances are also very slim for an upgrade.

Thanks for the help with this!! Now I am considering moving to Columbus Day instead :confused3. I dunno know.
