Do you think FP+ will come to DL?

And I can see them adding "FP+" to some rides that might have some extra space, but definitely not almost every attraction like at WDW.

Isn't that one of the most ridiculous parts of FP+? Can you imagine burning a FP for Captain EO or Figment? I am amazed that they think their guests are this ignorant!

I'm glad you had not issues, that's great.

Except that they almost have to add it to everything they can. Otherwise they are out there advertising a system that might have already run out of capacity. They know Captain EO doesn't need FP+. But FP+ needs Captain EO.

Maybe they should've invested the 1.5 billion in new attractions and invested in MDE when they really had a product!

Well, you and I might think that. But unfortunately that's not what any of the decision makers thought. They made it very clear they were not going to engage in an arms race of rides with Universal. It seems they believed people were not doing Captain EO in large numbers because of an oversight or something. :confused3

?I can understand their confusion! We're going back to WDW in April, mainly for Flower and Garden. But this time we're splitting time between WDW (3days) and Universal (2 days). Honestly, I can't imagine spending 5 days in the frustration that's become WDW. It just seems like too much like work instead of a vacation.
I love visiting DLR for that exact reason, it's a vacation. Touring the parks is still fun and easy.

I feel it's a mistake to make matters more confusing for the guests. The magic bands may have started out as a means of simplifying guest experience, but FP+ is the most confusing, convoluted, system I've ever heard of implemented at a theme park.

It would actually be much easier for guests if DLR introduced a system similar to the one at Universal Orlando Resort, where Express Pass is given free to onsite guests and for a fee to anyone else.

They couldn't do that at WDW because of the sheer number of resorts. Maybe they could at DLR. But honestly, do they NEED to? Don't the hotels stay pretty full already to the point that they scaled back discounts over the last couple years?

It's always possible to increase hotel rates even higher, but your point is well taken. MM+ seems to have been developed especially for WDW to address issues that do not exist at DLR.

I don't think the issues exist at WDW either!

Amen!

I am a disneyland lover and enjoy being so close to my hotel, DD and going from park to park. I think they have dumped so much money into this that they will at some point force a square peg into a round hole at DL. Just wish they had put the money elsewhere.

It could have been great. Change over existing kiosks to band-reading ones. Still walk over to the ride and tap the band(s). Eliminate paper. Sell the bands to off-site folks. But keep the usage parameters the same as they are now.

Use the technology, but don't create hoops to jump through.

I can see this implemented.

I've often wondered what the impact would be of no Fastpasses at all. It worked for many years without them. I personally have pulled maybe 10 FP at most in my lifetime, and I've spent more than a half of a year in the parks as a guest.

We just got back from two weeks at WDW. (last two weeks of June)
Our MB worked fine, never had an issue there. Getting in to the parks were a lot faster. I'm still wishing they would have an AP only line at DLR.

We do not have an iphone, we had itouch so we relied on their wifi. On the whole it was very good. Often on buses between parks and resorts it didn't come in. At some shows I couldn't get it. But 95% of the time it worked fine.

We liked not fiddling with a zillion little pieces of paper before walking up to a FP line. On the flip side, I didn't like that I had to consult MDE each time I wanted to remember when my FP was. I actually brought a little note book and wrote down FP and ADRs just in case.

I have to say I also liked being able to pick your time instead of getting a FP for an inconvenient time.

I didn't like having to decide 60 days out which rides I wanted to ride and when especially since I had never been and knew nothing about them. Getting extra FPs after your 3 was a pain because you had to find a kiosk and they were few and far between. Often you were left with rides that didn't need a FP.

Figment was always 5 min when we were there so that one was a waste. The green side of Mission Space was also always 5 min. Spaceship Earth was a steady 20-30 min all day so a FP there was helpful. But you could never get a FP for Soarin and Test Track in the same day. Just didn't happen. Overall, most of the "extra" FPs were just a waste and not really needed. They also didn't really have very many rides in one park so of course the big ones are going to fill up faster.

I just can't imagine how they would manage FP+ for AP holders at DLR. Will they limit you to a certain amount per month? Per week? What about those AP holders like us who come for a week? Would we not be able to get as many FP as a ticket holder because our "quota" would be filled? If they aren't very careful, I can see many many AP holders not renewing. Maybe they want that? I'm not sure what they think. :confused3

After reading other posts about FP+ and the amount of planning it takes, do you think it will be implemented at DL?

If so, how do you think it would change the way people tour the parks?
It was already announced that it will come....eventually. Realistically it is a far, far way from being ready for DLR.

Bottom line is the way they work right now will never be accepted out here, just due to the fact that the majority of visitors are locals with Annual Passes, which would be negatively impact them too much.

Realistically, many thought it was pretty far from being ready for WDW too. ;)

Just take a read through the current thread about a guest who added the dining plan and had all his FPs wiped out, only to be told they could not reinstate them.
