Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

It bugs me that I thought that though. I keep seeing him in my mind standing at the front and I wonder where that impression came from. I do know that this proves that it has been way too long since we had breakfast there. Next time! :)

I think he was standing infront as you said couple of years ago when we were there. Can not say for sure, but I think he was.

I have eaten at Crystal Palace for the last 6 years, so at least 8-10x, and he has always been walking around to the tables.

Not sure what you both are talking about? Maybe 7 or 8 years ago, it was a different setup?

I just saw this on the official Disney website:

Chef Mickey's

Meet Chef Mickey and friends at buffet-style breakfasts and dinners.

Location: Disney's Contemporary Resort

Price: $$$ ($36 to $59.99 per person)*

Cuisine: American

Breakfast: 7:00AM-11:30AM (includes Characters- Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Pluto)

Lunch: 12:30PM- 2:30PM (does not include Characters)

Dinner: 5:00PM- 9:30PM (includes Characters- Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Pluto)

Dine Plan: View Dining Plan Information

....

Not sure why $59.99 is showing for the price breakout for this restaurant. Anyone have any idea?

$36 to $59.99 per person!

I just checked and it shows the same for 1900 Park Faire and the Crystal Palace. You know, it's going to be a cold day in a certain place before I spend $59.99 a person for a buffet! :sad2:

I know for a fact that Pooh used to be at the front for photos 11 years ago ;). I have the photos to prove it, but that was over a decade ago. I'm pretty sure that he was still at the front 7 years ago, I have those photos too, but for some reason I feel more certain about my first visit there then my last. Both were for breakfast.

As for the Pooh controversy ;) , I might be thinking of long ago. That's sad since we've been there since and only shows how much I pay attention sometimes. At any rate, we know that he wanders around now. :)

Weird. If I search for character on the website in another way, it shows the old prices for these restaurants.

Hi Planogirl!

That is wierd. Here is the link where it gives the price range for Chef Mickey's:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/re...4866152-4899637-8075385-3203778&ts=1284924866

You're right though, it has the same price range for 1900 Park Fare. :scared1:

I also noticed that "Tables In Wonderland" has been grayed out for Ohana and Chef Mickey's. Do they not accept the TIW anymore?

thanks!

Things are being changed as we speak I bet. Ugh, it doesn't look good at this point even though I hope that it's a mistake. Imagine paying $60 a person to eat at the Crystal Palace!!!!

No, I can not imagine the idea of paying that kind of money for a meat and potato buffet? Sheesh. I wonder if it is a "typo"? Hopefully, some of the experts here will give us some hindsight on these restaurant prices.

I also read these threads and look for declining standards at WDW and I just don't see it either. Almost everything has been fantastic on every single one of our trips and for the small things that haven't been (none of which I can pin on Disney), the rest makes the minor annoyances easily overlooked. :goodvibes

Before everyone goes nuts about the website, you need to realize that Disney is very IT challenged. They frequently have mistakes on there. Our DVC website has lots of issues, as does the main website.

Honestly, I can't imagine charging $59.99/pp, so I wouldn't worry about that.

As for Tables in Wonderland, both of those restaurants still take it - we just got a new TIW restaurant list last month, and they have actually added restaurants, so it's all good!

I seriously would not pay that much attention to the Disney website, as there are clearly errors on there. I fear some of you are going to get all frazzled about something that is full of errors. It does bother me though, as regular Disney guests may think that those are the prices, and at this time, they are not. As Nala mentioned above, they have entered a range of prices, and have done so across the board. Remember, they have special packages such as Candlelight Processional, as well as seasonal upcharges, so somewhere, someone has entered in incorrect ranges for a whole bunch of restaurants.

In this case, Disney has always been downhill in regards to IT issues, and for a corporation of that stature, they really need to invest more in their IT Dept. so that the websites are always correct and updated.

Well, according to some people, the free DDP has ruined much of the food at WDW. They call for the return to full priced food as if it somehow would bring back the food quality they long for. At $60pp for Crystal Palace, this should satisfy their wish for full priced food. Hopefully the quality is what they remember it to be from the pre-free-DDP days.

As someone who has gone to WDW since 1973, I can promise you that since the inception of the DDP, food quality has definitely suffered. If paying $60person for a buffert meant the food would be as good as it once was, I'd happily pay it.

Hi Tiger!

First, thanks for your reply, it's very much appreciated. You know as many "hits" as Disney get on their website (millions) I would think they would get a competent IT team to make the correct pricing. Unreal.

I can't comment to the quality of the food pre-DDP days as I never experienced that. I can say that for me to pay $60 for a buffet, i don't want characters, screaming kids, parades or to refill my own drinks. Heck, i don't even want my kids there. $60pp is sounding a bit more like Albert & Victorias territory to me.

I agree, too much. I did it once years ago, not for characters, just wanted to see this place inside and selection of food even before free DP times was on McDonalds level. Only food that we liked were cakes. I understand characters just too cute for kids but on the other hand if I had a little kid, I would just go for meet and greet and saved my money.

IT has been a problem for Disney as long as I can remember. When the Disney Magic was beginning it's first season, IT issues were just horrible.

I remember I had guests booked early in the Magic's first season and I made a change to their reservation the same day Disney was upgrading programs. For some reason timing lead to just STUPID problems with the reservation.

Lemons to Lemonaide (not counting the insanity factor).....problems continued to happen to this fairly simple reservation so in the end.....these two delightfully patient sisters got the following upgrades.....from an Inside cabin and Riverside (Dixie Landings) to.......

Beach Club
Beach Club upgrade to concierge
Balcony cabin on the ship
Wine and cheese in their cabin
Chocolate covered strawberries in their cabin
Priority table at Palos
2 spa treatments each

Each of the above upgrades was a result of an IT problem. It got to be a joke when I finally called them about the last problem (tried to make their final payment and everything crashed again)......and explain their newest upgrade was CONCIERGE level at the Beach Club.......they asked....."did you get all these upgrades by sleeping with Michael Eisner!!!!"

More lemons to lemonaide - I met just about EVERY person who could solve a problem at DCL. The resources came in handy when other problems arose.

Bottom line.....it was all about a very poorly written program.

DH suffers with systems which are simply not written well. Disney has the $$$ to have one of the best systems in the World. The lost time alone would probably fund an entirely new system.

Oh well.....As John Glenn said when he was about to launch into space on the Shuttle. "Excited? I guess....as long as I can forget this machine was built by the lowest bidder!"

I would only pay such prices for a top of the line restaurant, certainly not a buffet of the type that Disney has now and I like buffets. I'm not frazzled though because I'm already in the eating offsite club anyway. :rotfl:
