Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

Being a former DVC member and now a Wyndham owner, I'll chime in.

I sold my DVC for a lot of reasons, reasons which are very similar to what we're all complaining about with regards to WDW. I won't go into details as this is neither the time nor the place.

We bought into Wyndham last year (a place in CO actually) and did it INCREDIBLY cheaply (easy to do anyone can do it). We bought it specifically to stay at Bonnett Creek as we knew its location after numerous trips to WDW and seeing the entrance. After doing some digging we also found out BC is Wyndham's best resort. So we bought in.

Have stayed there 4 times now and I can say, without a doubt, it blows ANY DVC property we've stayed at out of the water. In all fairness, BLT and the AK properties weren't built yet. We've stayed all all of the other DVC properties in WDW, however.

The rooms are much nicer and larger (more like the size of rooms at OKW--that was our home resort). The staff is just as nice as anywhere we've been and there's plenty to do (much of it free or for a minimal charge like the 2:00 ice cream party they do every day). It's convenient as it's right on the edge of Disney property--you much drive on the property to get there. Yes, you need a car but we always have one anyway. They do provide transportation to/from WDW but it's not convenient to everyone if you know what I mean. It's on THEIR schedule.

For the price you can get it for (if you buy the RIGHT way like we did), you cannot beat it and it blows DVC out of the water. There are some things--as far as the program--where I feel they are lacking compared to DVC but they aren't anything which has caused us any problems.

Anyway, I can explain how we bought it so inexpensively if you want to know. No tricks. Nothing crazy. Just common sense. Just PM me, this isn't the place for the discussion.[/

Hi Rickster!

I PM'd you last night about the above reference. I'm interested in pricing and specifics if you don't mind.

Thanks!

I have never spent just one day at either Universal or WDW and it never occurred to me how expensive that is. We always spend 4 or so days at each and Universal is definitely a way better deal under those circumstances.

As for WWoHP, my favorite parts was the FJ queue, the Butterbeer, the overall ambience (check the shop windows!) and the Buckbeak I bought. We had a wonderful time. :)

Replied. Was out at a baseball game with the family last night. :)

Thanks Rickster for the great detailed information!

I love Universal Rides. They do have a much better deal on tickets though. But there is something about Disney that just brings us back.

Has anyone been to SeaWorld? How do they compare to Universal and Disney?

Seaworld is DH's favorite park. He LOVES the marine shows and has been rambling about the new ride for a year now. I'll be the staff photographer for THAT ride......taking their photos as they hang upside down!

We will be planning at WWOHP trip next year with our DVC Disney addicts friends...planning to add one day at Seaworld so we will not have to listen to him whimper!!

DH is dying to go to Sea World. Every time I agree I go look at the ticket prices... and with the AP's for Disney I just can't bring myself to buy additional tickets.

I haven't been in about 10+ years... but I just can't see how what is there justifies the cost! 295$ for the 4 of us?

It is only about $12 less than a day at Disney.

Someday. Maybe when we live there ~ it will work out!

We encountered actual rudeness from CMs this trip. I was shocked! Clerks snapping at guests and then rolling thier eyes. I expect this at Wallmart, not Disney.

Actually, I don't expect this at Walmart and can't say that I can recall ever getting treated poorly by Walmart employees.

Actually I don't expect this any where. Unfortunately it is less surprising at some places.... and becoming more and more the norm.

Walmart is bad here.... but the groceries stores are just awful! Love the cashier talking to the bagger about a party from the previous evening and not even acknowledging that I am standing there. :sad2:

I'm with ya. It would be nice for employee's and employer's to bring back a strong work ethic as the norm, not the exception.

We stopped going to Sea World...dirty, horrible employees, unorganized, nasty guests smoking everywhere, etc. Not like Disney at all...despite the fact that we've seen concerns at Disney as of late, it's nothing like what we experienced at Sea World. We were Sea World Passport members for a few years, but haven't been back in awhile. Have spent a mint on DVC, and APs, so we just can't justify the prices for Sea World either.

Love the animals, but the park itself, needs some work, IMHO, Tiger

Same with this dad, I would love to go to Sea World but just can't pull the trigger. We have AP's as well. Someday I guess

We don't even have a Walmart within 40 miles from us. I can relate to the grocery store issue. If it's not people talking about lastnight it's the exchange workers talking any language but english.

Well yes and no. I have noticed the food has changed in the restaurants to some places as pretty iffy. Also have noticed some good changes better restaurants like Wolfgang Puck.. and some others but most are tourist traps.. Need to go off site..

Our Seaworld had an amazing sale on kids' tickets this year. Tickets were just $5 for kids ages 3-12 and I thought that was true at all locations.

Our location was always nice and I hope that it still is. The San Diego park is one of the most beautiful parks I've ever seen.

They are doing it in Orlando right now. I don't know how long they will do it and weren't doing last time we looked into going.

It still would be over 180$ for our family of four.

Some day he will get his wish.

We only go to Sea World occasionally too. I have two themepark resorts that are vital for me so Sea World tends to be neglected.

Never've been to Sea World. I think it is a good idea only if you take Universal only vacation, without Disney, then you can get a City Pass and save, otherwise it is pretty expensive.

Wow, which Wal-mart do you go to? Ours are aweful when to comes to service. Again, I have yet to encounter a truly rude CM as WDW. The majority go above and beyond IMO from what we have experienced. I have seen some that maybe haven't been the "happiest", but everyone is human and can have an off day.
