Do you think animals go to heaven?

And sorry this is so long. There are some days that I just miss my Nakita so much, even though she died about 5 1/2 years ago, and today was one of the hard days.

your post brought tears to my eyes...I miss my Zeke (he's been gone just over 3 years) too, most days are good ones, but we all have our days... :grouphug: to you...

Thank you and :grouphug: to you too.

SSB was dismayed one day when overheard youngest's soccer coach explaining (in Upward Soccer practice) that animals don't go to heaven as they have no souls. Thought out of line for him to be making that call... and especially to be telling/teaching youngsters his beliefs about.

I'd have taken issue with that. Not his place. Bad Coach- BAD!

Years ago, I received a publication that asked the question "What Good are Animals?" Many of the articles dealt with relationships of God, animals and humans. This is my favorite, and I have made copies and always keep one close at hand.

"Dogs in Heaven have almost always belong to somebody on Earth and of course, the dogs remember this. Heaven is full of memories. So, sometimes an angel will walk a dog back to Earth for a little visit and quietly, invisibly, the dog will sniff around his old backyard, will investigate the cat next door, will follow the child to school, will sit on the front porch and wait for the mail.

When he is satisfied that all is well, the dog will return to Heaven with his angel. It is where dogs belong, near God who made them...

They will be there when old friends show up. They will be there at the door."

bobbi, I knew that sounded familiar. :goodvibes Dog Heaven is a wonderful children's book that my kids' kindergarten teacher had sent home with them when our dog Kayla died suddenly. I swear it helped me more than the kids! :teeth: Definitely recommended reading for anyone with young children losing a pet (who believes in Dog Heaven ;) ). Available at Borders in the children's section.

I sure hope they do.

I love my dogs just as much (more on some days) as any human.

numbersman, the questions I was referring to where questions such as who killed JFK, how did the world begin, etc, etc, not spiritual questions. But thanks for the offer to help, I appreciate it.
I see. Can't help you with the JFK one, though I would like to know myself! I will say that how the world began, to me, IS a spiritual question, as I believe (and the Bible says) that God created the world.

Anyway, hope you find the answers to all you're looking for.

Since these are souls we're talking about here... doesn't it make sense that your feelings and memories of your pet would connect you to your pet in the afterlife? Same as other humans.

Unless of course there is some kind of soul capacity issue and your dog shows up to be told... sorry... all filled up with cats since older people tend to have so many. :p

I love this! If God didn't think animals were important, why did he have Noah build the ark? Why is there a patron saint for animals (St. Francis of Assissi). Why do churches have a blessing of the animals? :dog: :love2:

I haven't read all the posts, so I don't know if this has been said yet or not. But...

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

Pets are sweet and innocent creatures, and spend most of their lives serving out huge doses of unconditional love.

If that isn't enough to go to heaven, then I don't know what is.
