Do you think a bony chest (ribs showing above breast) is attractive on a woman?

Well, umm, my collarbones and the bones in my chest are apparent and you can count my ribs. Some people are just skinny--I eat like a pig. Maybe I should stop wearing V neck sweaters! DH doesn't find it unattractive and that's all that matters to me!

If you mean like Gwynith Paltrow (spelling?), then my answer would be no. Whoever said you can't be too thin or too wealthy, was wrong. You can be too thin!

Gwyneth used to be too skinny, but since her baby she looks a little softer. The ones I'm thinking of are Naomi Watts and recent pics of Nicole Kidman. Yuck!

I love my sticking out collarbone bone and slight rib outline...but when its TOO prominent is when it starts to look not good.

I like the look of people who appear to be healthy! My sister told me a few years back that I looked too skinny, I had lost a few pounds because I was so busy. I normally try to keep my weight constant. So that made me a little parnoid. :earseek:

It's weird when strangers comment on your weight, or appearance. I had a guy at the gym say "Wow, your veins really stand out on your arms when you lift." What the heck was that supposed to mean? :earseek: Then he asked how I got this tiny scar under my arm, I was wearing a tank top. You have to really stare to see it, and wait for me to lift up my arm. He was really getting on my nerves by this point.....I'm sure you get the picture. :earseek:

DH and I were watching Will & Grace the other day and I commented how pretty Debra Messing is. DH said "ewwwww, she has a bony chest!" LOL! Never noticed before.

Can't say I like it in a man myself. :p

I have Debra Messing's chest. (Well, a chest just like hers, I don't actually profess to "owning" her chest :earboy2: )

So, I guess I'm OK to some and "ewwwww" to others. I always liked to refer to myself as "athletic" looking - rather than bony chested. I've been this way all my life, and probably always will be - and believe me - I can eat. :D

You know, I wonder how this thread would have gone over if someone titled it...Do you think a fat chest is attractive on a woman?

Why does either matter?

Sorry, the more I think about this thread, the more irritated I become.

I was thinking that too...would it be as lighthearted and easy to poke fun if it was about cellulite or rolls on a woman?

I'm not offended or anything!! Just observing....

Well, being a woman who is um..blessed... with no rib bone exposure, I spent the majority of my younger years wishing the bones were apparent.
Same here. I developed early and wished I had the flat chests my friends had, while they wished they had my inflated chest. I still envy those that can wear a blouse and have it hang properly.

But too bony doesn't look right. It looks like the bones would puncture their skin.

IT's a great day when just my coller bone is showing.....

See, goes to show you how the grass is always greener. My biggest complaint has always been that clothes are made for women with big chests and broader shoulders.

Every shirt (except t-shirts) that I try on, hangs right off my shoulders and exposes way too much, because there's not much to hold up the front.

I guess we all have our personal bodyshape/clothing demons. :earboy2:

No. Bones showing is generally a sign of illness. Not very attractive. People, both men and women, were not meant to be so skinny that bones show.

Miss Jasmine - I am certainly not poking fun at anyone. In cases where women (esp.) are so thin that they have bones showing, my first concern would be their health. I'd probably feel the same way for an extremely overweight person...not so much concerned about their looks but concerned about their well being.

Sorry, but not everyone who's bones show are ill!!! That's a pretty broad generalization!!! I know plenty of healthy, skinny, girls. :flower:

Yup, same here. My last girlfriend was fit as can be and she showed a bit of bone.

Hm. I disagree with this. I weighed 150 at 5'7 last March...within the "healthy" weight range, and yet many a doctor said it would be prudent to lose a few pounds.

Now I weigh 129, still within the normal healthy weight range for 5'7 and a medium bone frame and I feel better, am more active and am generally just healthier. My collarbone shows somewhat prominently and I have an outline of chest bones, but nothing skeletal or prominent. I am NOT ill.

This is such a good point. It often seems to be perfectly acceptable here to pick on skinny celebrities. Afterall, they must be on drugs or have an eating disorder . But if you mention that a celebrity or someone is has gained some weight and looks fat, you'll likely be blasted in no time.

Someone mentioned Kelly Ripka's chest. IMO, it is one of the ugliest I've seen and she should cover it up (esp. on that nighttime show she has). Hers is the same look that Aaron Spelling's DD had on 90120. Ick. I think that is very unattractive. I rarely ever see people i RL who have that same look. Both of my sisters are very thin and neither has that look although one of them shows a lot of bones. There is a differenece in being thin and Kelly Ripka's look IMHO.

My bones show there---just below the collarbone---and I'm not small chested.

I am also not "skin and bones"---I wear a size 4-6.

not to be tasteless, but are her breasts real? That happens sometimes when women go "too big". :moped:
