Do You Take Your Dog Into Stores With You?

Also, before someone uses poorly behaved children as an excuse to allow poorly behaved dogs everywhere, frankly it would be nice to exclude them too! :teeth: However, we're not allowed to discrimininate against spoiled brats but dogs are given no such rights as far as I know.

Ah darn.. you beat me to it PG. Never had a dog take a plate and whap me over the head from behind (while I was sitting in a booth) while his parents smiled and laughed and said "Oh how cute" like a little brat did once. :teeth: Now that child was an arguement for leash laws.. for kids :rotfl:

First of all I'm a total animal lover! I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and 10 chickens (with 2 dozen eggs in the incubator as we speak). Anyway, as much as I love animals I think it's perfectly OK for someone NOT to love animals. I absolutely don't judge a person just because they say they dislike animals in their home. It's their home, for heaven's sake, it's not for me to say that they should of shouldn't allow animals. As far as stores are concerned, if a store decides to be animal friendly, that's their right as well. If you don't like it, shop somewhere else. This is America after all, the land of shopping, there's plenty of stores to shop at. On the other hand, if you own a pet and want to take it to a store make sure the store allows pets and don't throw a fit if they don't. It seems simple enough to me.

Now for my rant - all you animal lovers, why pick on the folks who don't like or even say they hate animals. And all of you animal haters, why do you care if I love my dog and why do you feel it's perfectly OK to judge me because I have a little foofy dog that hangs out with me? GEEZ you guys, have some frickin' tolerance and some respect for each other! With these kinds of attitudes it's not surprising how intolerant the US is these days.

OK, I'm off my soapbox now. But please folks, play nice!

:thumbsup2 And Cindylou steps away from rubbing lemons on her countertops long enough to throw in a voice of reason! :thumbsup2

To the animal haters..I have no problem if someone hates animals but do NOT do anything to harm my animals nor disrespect me or put me down for the fact that I do love animals - and I will do the same for you. But don't expect respect from those that don't share your views if you cannot come in here respect ours in return.

The bottom line is, people that bring their dogs to a pet friendly hotel, or bring their dogs to a store that allows pets to shop there are not breaking any law. They have every right to do what they are doing. If you do not like it then protest it by taking your business to that company's competition - don't go bashing the people that are doing what they are encouraged by that company to do.

To answer the Op's question, no I have never and would never bring my dog into a store w/ me. Just because I love my animals doesn't mean everyone else does.

No, we've never taken our dog into a store. Only into the lobby of a pet friendly hotel. But, here in Boca taking small dogs into stores seems to be THE thing to do. They are everywere - in fancy Boca malls, in Target, I've even seen them in a Publix grocery store!

Allergies
Dog Bites
Pee/Poop in shopping carts
Animal Hair on clothing
Pet Dander

Those are all valid reasons for getting irritated by someone bringing their pet into a store where it doesn't belong. pirate:

Reasons to be annoyed by other ppl in stores-

People who don't wash their hand after using the restroom and are sick, then touch the cart....

People with dandruff

Balding people losing their hair

Sick sneezing people

Kids with runny noses

Getting shot in the mall (happened here!)

Ppl with too much cologne/perfume

Ppl that smell like BO or cigarettes (both worse than dog smell IMHO)

Ppl that eat smelly foods

Ppl that accidentally vomit in the freezer section (seen it!!)

Anyway, I could go on and on. I still don't bring my dog into the store, but other people's pets don't bother me any more than other people!!!

Do you take your dog into the store with you? Not pet stores, but clothing stores, grocery stores, etc. I was at Marshalls today and a couple came in with their dog on a leash. The manager told them they would have to hold the dog while in the store so they left and came back a few minutes later with the dog in the shopping cart. I just thought it was strange and a little gross since I wouldn't want to use a shopping cart after it had a dog in it. What if it peed? Not to mention the hair dogs shed. I thought this was a little strange. Do others do it?

:confused3 You mean to stores where they are not allowed? No, and I think it is just bad manners to take them where they are not welcome.

The soccer club my DD just joined, the parents all receive a copy of field rules. It says on top and bottom, in large bold letters, NO ANIMALS ALLOWED ON FIELDS EXCEPT SREVICE ANIMALS WHO MUST BE WEARING THEIR ID. :confused3 Now, how hard is that to understand? :confused3 But yet this one lady continues to bring her little dog, on one of those retractable leashes, who has snapped at kids, digs holes, and leaves packages everywhere :confused3
