Do you still shop for souvenirs?

I could buy half the store at Art of Disney! Sometimes I'm glad that a lot of the stuff is soooooooo expensive ;)

Each trip we seem to trim back the purchases, this coming trip I will probably limit myself to a shirt or two, some postcards, and one special item to remember the trip by.

Ours varies too. We didn't spend a lot on our Oct trip but we did this last trip. Newly purchase of DVC so of course we had to buy DVC merchandies ;)

But the main things I have to get are pins of that year. Any special event pins during the time we go (MVMCP, MNSSHP, F/W, resort pin) etc. Things that have meaning to what we did and not just random pins.

Hubby likes a shirt.

Overall we do find we tend to buy less. But I still take a lot of pictures. Maybe that will dwindle too.

I think I usually spend $100-$200 on each trip. I usually get a t-shirt or sweatshirt, a couple pins, a scrapbook or photo album, some scrapbooking supplies/stickers since you can only get them at wdw, an ornament, a figurine/small snowglobe. Last May I bought the Happiest Celebration on Earth afghan that has the castle on it all decorated in gold- I have it on my couch and I love it.

Like someone else said, I like to get stuff that's special for the time I'm there- like a halloween pin or a MNSSHP santa hat.

It seems as though we spent just as much this October as we did last October but we enjoy getting coffee mugs to use at work and the occasional t-shirt/sweatshirt. My DH insisted on a My Pal Mickey for me so I will be excited to try it out in October 06! :goodvibes

Strangely we bought very little at DL/CGA

Ain't that the truth! When I'm in there, it's the one time I'm glad we have to fly; it keeps me from buying much because I can say, "How would I get that home? It would probably break!" We're thinking of moving closer to WDW when we retire, close enough to drive there, but I just realized-we can't afford to. Then I'd buy everything at Art of Disney!

For now I content myself with Christmas ornaments each trip, a new CD each trip, and every couple trips I treat myself to a new Larry Dotson print. Even after 23 trips, I HAVE to buy some souvenier or 2 or 3 or.....

DH & I have certain items that are on regular shopping lists that we each collect or add to our collections each trip. Also, as another poster mentioned, we too have a granddaughter to by for now!

We limit ourselves. Or rather, *I* limit my DD and myself. :-) As we're leaving MK on the first day, I get us each a beach towel - they're more expensive at the park than at home, but it gives DD a souvenir that she actually pulls out and uses every day, so she's constantly reminded that yes, mommy did buy me something already, and I can remind her of that when she starts looking at every souvenir in sight. lol.

The last time we went, our package included a bunch of Disney Dollars. I was able to give her $10 a day to spend as she wanted and still keep some for myself, which was cool. It was wonderful to have her making her own decisions (with my approval) and we could talk about whether she wanted to spend her money that day or save up for something larger, which items were more likely to break, which pin she liked better than the others, etc. She learned a lot about money and value and for $10 a day, I think I'll do that next time we go, even if I have to come up with the money myself. :-)

I dont know that I have enough self control to go to WDW and not buy souvenirs... :teeth: Me and DD7 went in September and I told her she only had so much money to spend.. of course I brought extra.. "just in case" and we went thru that too!! There is way too much cute stuff there.. Now that Im into scrapbooking I am going to have to check out the sb stuff there too..

Yes-we always come home with atleast one new ornament and a t-shirt...thats a given but usually its a lot more!

I'll ask my friend next time she calls this week about the WDW discount store. I will post name, location, and phone number!

I always try to buy some sort of photo or scrapbook album with the year on it for our photos. The kids spend hours looking at all our past Disney photo albums.

I also try to get a magnet with the date on it.

We also try to hit all the outlet stores to see what kind of clothes they have. We try to get my husband some golf shirts each time we head down.

We usually end up with some sort of toy for each of the kids (1 boy & 1 girl). Alot of the time the kids each pick out a hat.

I would say that is about it.

I have been 20+ times and I still try to buy what I can. Disney is the master at changing those little trinkets just a little so it looks totally different. Why do they do that? So you and I will want to buy one! I do believe I take fewer pictures though so I guess that's one thing.

My favorite souvenir from my last trip is a mousepad with the "celebration" castle on it! I use it every day at work!

My newest tradition is to buy a tree ornament during every trip. I wish I had started this earlier...my tree would be covered in Disney by now. I also buy my daugher and son (all grown up now) an ornament...my daughter just got married so I got her the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ornament. DS got a Goofy. At least it's something that will get a little use!

I have to buy a couple of Disney snowglobes to add to my ever growing collection. I pick up a Xmas ornament for my tree and one for my DS, DIL, and DD.

I always try and find something for my "Kids" (ages 21, 22, and 24) with their favorite characters. DS is a Donald Duck fanatic, DIL loves Eeyore, and DD loves Daisy Duck and Ariel. New Daisy and Donald stuff is the hardest to find. :confused3

I also pick up a magnet or mug from each Disney resort I stay at.

We usually only use about 1 roll of film on our trips now. We have a special picture spot on the Tommorrowland bridge with the Castle in the backround. We always have a picture taken at that spot. It's fun to see how we have all changed over the years, but the Castle seems to always remain the same. Very reassuring.

I share your joy! :goodvibes

I too love to browse but is is a little harder with 2 DD and a cranky DH. They want everything they see and he HATES to shop. So I try to escape by myself and found I buy more at the resort gift shop. I like to buy things that I use up like paper or pens or collect like ornaments or charms. Little things that I can use everyday and remember my trip like a photo album or magnets. I bought a watch last time and wear it almost every day!
I bought less on my 2nd recent trip than I did on the one before. DD's got most of the souvies. :earsgirl:
