Do you send in rebate forms?

We recently purchased a few electronic goodies while in the states last week, and some of them were on sale, via mail-in rebates (I think ther was almost 300 dollars in mail-in rebates in total). We made sure that we sent them all in before leaving back for Mexico. I just got a confirmation in my email that one of them (the biggest one) was received and was being processed.
When we bought the items, my wife asked why the stores offer mail-in rebates, as opposed to simply just giving you the discount at the time of purchase. I told her that when I had worked in retail, it wasn't that uncommen to hear from customers who said that they never bothered to mail in their rebates (either they forgot, or didn't want to be bothered because the process took too long). I imagine that companies make a whole lot more money by having mail-in rebates as opposed to automatic discounts at the time of purchase simply because of the number of people who don't bother to send in their rebates.
So what about you? Do you always send yours in, or do you sometimes forget / not want to be bothered by it?

My DH always does, and thank goodness he does, because I never do :sad2: I either can't be bothered, I forget, or I misplace it:rolleyes:

Not for rebates that are $10.00 and under.

I always do. I'm somewhat anal about things like that.

I always send them in! I'm rather particular about needing to send them in ;)

I don't always send in for them. I think a lot of people don't send in the paperwork. If I buy something that has a rebate I figure I'm paying the "before rebate" price.:confused3

I don't. DH does.

A few weeks ago, he got a $10 rebate check from a rebate he'd sent in **2 YEARS** ago! :lmao:

I always do... even for a $1. I love on-line rebates the best, then I'm saving an additional .39 for a stamp.

I sent in one for a tv that we bought from Best Buy on the day after Thanksgiving. It was the first time that I had actually sent one in. I got back 140.00!!:cool1:

Like crazy, except I didn't for my daughter's Christmas gift and a recent computer purchase for my dad (I lost the rebate form). So, there was $100 to the companies, which, you can answer your wife, why they do the rebates instead of just marking the merchandise down.

I send them in even if they are for $1.00...it's my way of getting even with the system:lmao:

Sometimes. The last one was only for $9 and the rebate check is still on the cork board that's on the fridge. We keep forgetting to deposit it.

usually little items, ie groceries i forget but big stuff, $10+ i always send in. i always get them back also although yesterday got an "invalid" email for one i just sent in for $50 which i know is valid so :confused3? They haven't emailed back to explain...and if the time limit is past for the check to arrive, I call and find out where it is..due to the principle of the thing:)

I've lost checks that way. Some of the expire after a certain time.
We never go to bank because of direct deposit and ATM machines.

I do.

When I was in college, money was tight, and I ate a lot of ramen noodles! :)

My dad would always fill out rebate forms, and have the check sent to me at school. Hey, that $3 check meant I could pitch in on alcohol for the weekend, or go to Taco Bell for dinner.

When I get rebate checks, I take them and deposit them into my kids' college savings account. I'm paying it forward!

Yes, when I buy something, it has a rebate to it, away it's mailed......
I am a stickler for my rebates..............;)

4/10 cannot come soon enough, FL/WDW.
Only been home a few days......... miss it already!
These boards keep me happy!
FL! :woohoo: :cloud9:

I just bought a new laptop and it came with a printer, anti-virus, and print shop, but I had to send in 8 different rebates to get $350 back!

Nope I do not mail them in. I also do not buy a product , as many people do, becasue of the rebate. If the one I want is offering a rebate fine but it is not a deciding factor in my mind in any way.

I can't remember the last time I bought something with a mail in rebate attached.

I always do send them back though even if it's a dollar! I deposit the money into my vacation savings! :thumbsup2
