We haven't had much luck with tablemates so we always request a private table. We have found that if you have main seating sometimes it can be difficult getting your request.
First cruise we were seated at a table for 8 that included an older lady that criticized and watched what I ate.

I've had stomach surgery and ended up ordering off the kid's menu that night to get something I could eat. We requested and were moved to a private table for 2 and it was great.
The second cruise we ran into a couple on the ship that we overheard complaining about EVERYTHING. We were seated at a table next to them at lunch when we got onboard which was very unpleasant. I jokingly said I hope we are not seated with them at dinner. DH laughed and said so many on this ship what are the odds? Wel,l as we were led to our assigned table that night.

there they were! We asked to be moved but had to move to late seating because main seating was full.
Third cruise we went with family, requested, and received a table for 5 and it was great!
Fourth cruise also requested a table for 2. Went to Rocking Bar D to check on this request. Was told we were at a table for 8 with people around our age, thought this sounded great. Arrived at the dining room to find ourselves seated at a table of MUCH older adults. The guy next to me was tearing up his bread for some reason and crumbs were flying and into my lap. Went up and requested a move and again had to move to late dining because main was full.
Does anyone know how many it takes at one table get your request granted? We booked a cruise for Jan and there will be 3 of us. I requested a table for 3
Would love to have some nice tablemates like I've read about on here. People who become friends and keep in touch even after the cruise. We love children so wouldn't mind being seated with families. I think we are just unlucky.
