Do you remember Empress Lilly boat character meal?

We ate there summer of 1981. It was a great family trip (mom, dad, sister, brother and grandparents). We stayed at CR and it was wonderful. I remember spending time with my grandpa, watching the monorail come through the resort and the sound of the doors being shut by cast members (doors weren't automatic back then). My grandfather passed away about a year later. So that trip holds a special place in my heart.

If I remember correctly it was also the same trip that I first had a McDonalds Chicken MgNugget as they were testing them!

I remember when mcnuggets were being tested. My hometown was a test market. We were on vacation and stopped at another McDonald's and asked for them and the employee had no idea what we were talking about.

Wasn't it Breakfast with Admiral Goofy or Donald? I remember Smee being there at some meals.

Yes I remember some of the characters dressed in admiral uniforms and Smee too. I have to dig out my photo albums and find a few pictures. I remember most of it but old pictures : )

Oh I'm so happy that out of nowhere today I thought of the empress Lilly with my kids so many years ago, if only so you could think about your happy memories with your grandfather ... What a wonderful trip you had with him : )

We used to go every year for breakfast. I still remember that goofy picked me up and placed me on a railing and everyone sang happy birthday to me.


One year, Pluto tickled my brother to the ground. I still have the pictures. We loved it!

I remember dining here. I think it was 1981 which I would have been 5. I've found a few pictures from that trip but nothing on the Empress Lily. I know we have slides from the trip, but haven't had a chance yet to go thru the boxes of slides to find them yet.

I do I do!! Vaguely though. I don't remember many details. I don't know what year it was. But I do remember being there, eating, with characters.

I remember it! We did it in 1989. Donald Duck was DS's favorite character, but when we went to WDW in 1987, I didn't think it was a big deal, so we skipped this character meal. Well, DS noted that he didn't get to see Donald, so DH made sure I made reservations there on our trip in 1989. Donald comes to the table, and DS, with a big grin on his face, announces "Oh, Donald! I've been waiting my whole life to see you!" His whole life being 6 years, but Mom didn't feel TOO guilty! And we still have the plastic mugs that we got there in 1989-now our DGDs use them.

I would have to say that my all time FAVOURITE picture from WDW is having breakfast on the Empress Lily when our daughter was not quite 2 (still flew for free!) so it would have been January 1991. She was dressed in a Minnie Mouse dress and sitting in a high chair with the sweetest smile on her face as she held Mickey's face in her hands kissing the end of his nose! I can't wait for her wedding to show that in the typical "slide show" Aww memories, thanks for making me dig this shot out!!

Yes! Character breakfast on the Empress Lily with my oldest daughter when she was just a toddler is still one of my favourite Disney memories! That would have been in 1984

Fast forward to 2012, when I treated that same daughter, her hubby & their 10 yr old son to a trip to the World..

We had dinner at Fultons! Another great moment in a lifetime of awesome Disney vacation memories!

The Baton Rouge Lounge was a quite a hopping place if my memories don't deceive me. We ate at the EL in summer '85 -- don't remember if it was Steerman's Quarters or Fisherman's Deck -- and it was a good time.

Remember the Empress Room? Before Victoria & Albert's it was the most elegant dining spot in WDW.

Remember all three!

We ate at the Empress Room just once tho--we were staying at the Poly and back then then foolishly had no car.


Well--we took a Disney bus down to the Empress Lilly--me in a suit, Mrs U in a dress--and everyone else on the bus in shorts and T's

Yes I do remember the character breakfast, my son was 4 and my daughter was 2 in 1982. Fast forward to 2009 my daughter's wedding in Disney. Many wonderful memories in between and more to come!

We also have a pennant. I think we got it there, but it's possible we got it at the former character meal, Minnie's Menehuene at the Polynesian (the one with the great strawberry-orange juice).

What's really a bummer for me is realizing that all the character meals we took our boys to when they were little are now extinct. "Wake Up You Silly Moose!"

My DH and I went there for our first trip together to WDW, about 6 months after we were married, so March of 1994. I have photos of us with Minnie there.
