Do you really think we could have a custom for 10K?

I had my reception at the California Grill. Up to the reception they were EXTREMELY difficult to deal with. They are not like the rest of the venues for a reception. They are very set in what they will do and what they will not do. They will not have tastings, will not customize a menu for you without extreme kickback (I finally gave up) and they changed my kids menu less than 30 days before our reception. The view from the venue is fabulous, but I don't know if I did a vow renewal if I would choose to do it again.

Maybe other brides had a different experience with them.

Their wait staff was great once we did get there. I know that they are going through a few changes and I am not sure if it is going to make it better or not.

EPCOT has a wonderful catering and event staff. I had a wonderful experience with those guys. There are restraunts in Epcot you could use as well!

Just keep this in mind! For your size, the Whitehall room is wonderful, and they had a great catering staff. My friend Lisa had her VR there and it was BEAUTIFUL! I will see if she will let me post a few pics.

Where is the whitehall room???

Grand floridian convention Center..Randy did Lisa's wedding so it should not be much longer until he has her pictures up on his site.

ok Jonette one more question... ok a few lol. Can you tell me what your children's menu from CG was, and the cost if you don't mind. If you don't want to say here can you pm me with the details. Thank you so much for all of your help!

the price will definately change so I don't think that that will help you. Usually it is 1/2 price of the adult meal. We went from chicken fingers and mic-aronooni and cheese to grilled chicken breast with seasonal veggies...I don't know a 3 yr old that would eat that...we had kids ages 3-9.

yuck, I would have been ticked off. I don't know how I would have handled that. If you had a contract signed then how were they able to just change it on you??? I will only have four kids the same exact ages you had and I know they wouldn't eat that(then again they probably won't eat anything lol).

It is in the contract that they have the right to make a business decision. You can not control that especially with the CG. You have to take what they have, or go with another location. Keep in mind that this is just my experience. Maybe other people had a different experience.

..Jonette - I'm sorry (and scared!) to hear that you had trouble working with them. We chose CG because we already love their regular menu, so I am hoping we don't have too many problems. May I ask how many people you had, and what part of CG you had your reception in? ..and Congrats! :Pinkbounc

oh.. and your advice thread has been very helpful - I didn't know what I wanted at all in a dress when we went to look, except "No organza overlay, and a french bustle!" even though I didn't know what they meant :rotfl2:

Thanks!

I know the weekday minimum is 10K but do you really think we could do it as cheap , ugh I mean cost efficient as that. Our intimate budget with an Illuminations dessert party came in around $11,500.00 or so. I know there will be a few more costs associated with a custom but fewers costs elsewhere. Do you guys think it is possible to pull off a nice disney wedding for that price????

I eventually settled with an intimate wedding, but I did go down the route of a custom.
There were 17 of us in total. I planned theceremony to take place at the YC Gazebo, and then to have a bbq dinner on the beach at the yacht & beach resorts. They quoted me $10,500 inc tax & gratuity. This was for the ceremony, flowers, cake, violinist, food & beverage, set up fee, lighting, linen, & 2 characters to arrive by boat. There was a huge fee for that ($2000 just to set up!!) so we decided to scrap the idea as it was money not well spent, and then we couldnt meet the minimum, so went back to an intimate.
But if you had more guests & other things to spend the money on, it can be done.
