Do you play video games?

Why go through all that to play EQ on a Mac when you can just play WoW? ;)

Heck, I'll probably wind up not playing either of them. I've got about 30 other things that are requiring my attention, and games shouldn't even be a priority right now.

oh ya, love video games. I still play Sim City and Civilization IV from time to time. I play WoW and sometimes Spore. I have a Wii, but I don't play it much, more of a PC gamer.

I have trouble mastering Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.

I use to be a big gamer back in the 80's. Yes, you could see me at the mall in the video game store with my big hair and parachute pants, playing Donkey Kong and Ms. Pacman until all of my allowance was spent.

I've tried over the years to get into gaming and just can't.

Although I enjoyed Wii bowling when I tried that recently.

I'm so lame. :rotfl:

I'm always getting classic games for my devices. I like new stuff but nothing beats Pacman and similar classics.

I tend to think that some game franchises should stay 2-dimensional.

Castlevania: Should've stayed 2D. (Luckily The Game Boy Advance still has 2D Castlevania games.)
Metroid: I'm not saying that the newer games in the series are bad, but they don't feel like Metroid games.

And pong. :thumbsup2

And if so, what are some of your faves?

Isn't it interesting that in the late 80's the average age of gamers was 12....and in 2007 it was 30?

:confused3

I did not know this...but I guess it fits me. (Maybe I shouldn't tell that!)

Guitar Hero and game series like:

Metroid
Castlevania
Silent Hill
RESIDENT EVIL......(hands down favorite)

I will counter all this with the information that I am gamefully employed with friends and a life. :rotfl2:

Ahhhh yes. The epitome of 2D.

Did you know the creator of Pong is also the creator of Chuck E. Cheese? Last I heard he was in the process of planning to make a "chic and modern" Chuck E. Cheese-esque restaurant/bar for adults. :confused3

I've never played Guitar Hero.....but other than that it seems we have similar taste in games. :yay: If you're into scary games, try Fatal Frame 2. I couldn't finish playing it because it scared me half to death. :lmao: I guess that's what I get for playing alone with the lights turned off.

And friends are highly overrated.:rolleyes1

On my Xbox (original) I enjoyed Halo. Doom3 was OK but I hate that it's so dark. Far Cry was pretty good. Since I started playing WoW all other gaming has taken a back seat.

Okay, okay......games like WoW may be addictive, but I've got one of the most addictive online games of all time........

BoomShine!!!!

It's ridiculously simple, but pretty fun. You can even play it at work. :rolleyes1

I love the scary games and I also like to play them with the lights off. lol. I will have to give Fatal Frame a try.

And yes...friends can be overated at times. :thumbsup2

Btw....I think I still have my Atari 2600 somewhere. lol.

Noone else plays DAOC? Mreh.. lol. I also play a horse game online, and DH and I play DDR endlessly. I recently beat Fable 2, that was pretty fun. Fatal Frame scared the poo outta me.. but I loved it anyhow.

Ok that one's pretty addictive. I've sat here the last couple hours at work playing it while listening to the dis unplugged podcasts.

heh.. I have a short attention span, so each game is my "alltime most favorite ever" for about a week, until I switch to another. Then I'll go like 2 months b4 its turn in rotation again lol.
For PC: i love all of the sims, tycoons (ie rollercoaster, zoo), i love time management games like the diner dashs hell's kitchen
For PS2: i play either music games (guitar hero, rock band, sing star, karoke karoke revolution) or i play Kingdom Hearts
For Wii: i play Wii fit or raging rapids or cooking mama

Yea I'm a gaming junky

I play, basically, 2 games:

- Microsoft Flight Simulator (to fly myself to Disney - yes, the landing strip at WDW is included in the current version!)

- Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (to make recreations of Disney parks and rides, of course!)

Monorail Man, I totally heart you for starting this thread!!! :flower3:

*bows*
*curtsies*
I do what I can. :thumbsup2

I have a friend who goes to one of the local coffee shops at least a couple days a week with his laptop and will sit there and play that flight simulator for hours. It's not my cup of tea, but I would really like to try RCT3. Attraction/ride design has always been an interest of mine.

I don't play it that much anymore because I've wasted enough hours on it already, but there are folks out there who have created a ton of Disney-related custom scenery for RCT3. What I like about it is not just the design aspect but the ability to actually see the park working... observing crowd patterns and such. There was a time where i wasted a lot of hours on it.

I had taken my sister to WDW when she was recovering from cancer, and there was one day out of the trip where she just wasn't feeling well enough to go out to the parks (I told her not to overdo it at 8-trax the night before but she did anyway). She stayed in the hotel and I couldn't drag her away from Roller Coaster Tycoon for 8 hours! :)

I play alot of Classic games with MAME. It stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. I bought a "slik stick" - get your minds out of the gutter. It's a customize Joystick that looks like one of the consoles from the 80's. It has the 7 button 2 playerset up for street fighter and MK. As well as a track ball (centipede, Disc of Tron, Missle Command) and the two 8 directions joysticks and one 4 directional joystick (pacman) and a few other things that make me sound like a complete dork. You download the origianal ROMs and then MAME makes your CPU emulate the Chipsets of the old consoles, you press a button to 'drop' in quarters and then play away . It's kind of a hobby. I was trying to find a way to play "Star Castle" (does anyone remember that one?) and it just got out of hand.
Plus, I really like little big planet for the PS3.

Also, you can find emulators the original NES, SNES and Atari. then replay games like Metroid and SMB on your computer. Check out Arcadeathome.com or google 'emulation'.

I've also MOD chipped my Nintendo DS but I think I should stop here before I sound like I have completely no life...
