Do you play video games?

If you like the old SNES RPG games, look for "Earthbound". It's one of my favorite games of all time!

That is a fun game. One of the more quirky, unique RPGs out there. I need to go back and finish it.

I'm not a "casual gamer". If I'm going to play something I like to sit down, play for hours and really get sucked into a game. :woohoo:

That's how I am. That's why I haven't played WoW since I started planning my trip. By the time I'm done surfing the boards and everything I would only have a couple hours before leaving work. To me that wasn't enough time to get into it so I just didn't bother to log in. I purposely waited until Friday before I first tried WoW b/c I figured I'd get sucked into it. Sure enough! I started playing as soon as I got home from work on Friday and finally logged off at 6 AM Saturday morning! :surfweb:

We soooo need to have a Gaymer party one of these nights! :thumbsup2

I'm addicted to The Sims 2 and I'm patiently awaiting TS3.
I also play Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, and I'm considering getting No Limits since it is quite apparent that there will be no RCT4.

That's why I was afraid to try any of the online RPGs. I knew I'd wind up spending about 4 million dollars in fees. I was the same way with Final Fantasy X. The first time I played through it it took me about 75 hours to finish it......and most of the time I'd sit there playing for a good 7-8 hours at a time.

I'm gaym! :thumbsup2

Lemme just find a job so I can afford an online gaym first.

The mmorpg's definitely are addicting!! I've taken time off from work when the expansion packs come out. My coworker plays FF and we're always going back and forth over which is better... and trying to get our coworkers to play. I was thinking of going to Blizzcon but looks like I'll be using my vacation time for GayDays instead.

yes, yes, yes and YES!

My favorite console is my DS lite, but I also love my xbox and wii :goodvibes

I love Sim games, especially Harvest moon, rhythm games and imported japanese games of crazy.

Some faves in no particular order:

Chrono Trigger
Pop Cutie
Harvest Moon
Lost in Blue

I have a dumb question: Do the mmorpg's actually have endings, or do the players continue on the same adventure non-stop?

Yaaaay! Another fan of Chrono Trigger! :yay: The only game to date with a bajillion possible endings. :thumbsup2

Roller Coaster Tycoon.....

Hmmmmmm.....why is that not a surprise? :rotfl2: I really want to try that, but my PC is over 10 years old. (I use a Mac now.) Have you seen the video on YouTube where some guy used RCT3 and some other piece of software (probably Maya) to recreate Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain? It was pretty amazing. He stayed very true to the originals, including sound effects, music, etc.

If you are going to go to RCT, go right to #3. If you start with #1 or #2 it will be a rough adjustment to #3. The things you can do on #3 are great! Lots of ability to make movies, ride the rides in a POV, add your own music to the park, add yourself to the park, its amazing!

You can pick from many different elements, be in PVP, raiding, questing, or whatever you want, but ultimately, there is no end. The whole goal is to get better gear through one of the above activities and become more powerful. Since they frequently release patches to add content to the game, you're never really on top. There is always something better.

Other people simply enjoy the social aspect. People collect pets and all kinds of stuff.

As for evercrack, no thanks. I have been VERY addicted to WoW before and even though my account is active and DBF is in Italy(thus giving lots of time to play) I find myself aimlessly browsing the net instead of just logging on. I really am trying to get back into the game and as much as I want to, a part of me is quite frankly afraid to.

I think I find myself like some others here. I don't like to just play for an hour. I want to sit down and get something done. WoW and GTA IV both are designed for longer sessions IMO. It takes me an hour just to figure out what I was doing the last time I logged on.

That said, maybe I'll logon to wow and get my addons configured again :thumbsup2 That alone can take hours

I love video games. I've had all the current systems, the wii just wasn't my thing and the 360 broke 4 times so I got rid of those. Now I just have the PS3.

My favorite games are
Resistance: Fall of Man
Singstar
Little Big Planet
Killzone 2
Oblivion

Pretty much any first person shooter.

I'm working on Resident Evil 5 right now, but to get 100% you have to beat it about 4 times and it's getting kind of monotonous. Still a fun game though.:thumbsup2

 Katamari! Katamari!

Loved Final Fantasy VII and the first Tomb Raider... and the first Resident Evil (ah, the good ol' days).

Haven't played anything in a while. I bought a Wii but now its just gathering dust under the tv.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good games for the Mac? I've been wanting to try Spore, but don't know a single person playing it.

Like zulemara said, the MMORPG's are HUGE and just keep going on. All of the big ones come out with expansions occasionally that add even more content.

For example, EverQuest is 10 years old and has had 14 expansions worth of stuff. Ever expansion introduces new zones to explore, new monsters to kill, new group missions (for up to 6 people) and new raids (for up to 54 people). You can also practice tradeskills and just sit around making armor, jewelry, food, etc. WoW also has those things, but not on as large of a scale as EQ.

There's something about first person shooters that drive me nuts. It's partially the control element, and partially the fact that you can't see what's behind you without spinning around. For this reason I gave up very early on some games that have been considered to be amazing, like Metroid Prime and Half Life. I guess I just didn't take enough time to get used to them. :confused3

I've never played Katamari Damacy but I have the soundtrack. I guess that's a bit weird if you think about it. :scratchin

FF7 was amazing. That was one of the first games I played that really sucked me into the story. It had one of those storyline twists within the first 1/3 of the game that makes you throw down the controller and say, "Ohhhh......noooo.....heeeee.....di'n't!" :lmao:
Definitely one of my favorite RPGs of all time, but the magic system was a bit difficult for me to understand.

Zulemara & ConcKahuna: Thank you. This pretty much makes it official that I definitely should not try an MMORPG any time soon. :lmao: I'd more than likely use it for the social aspect. Okay, okay......the quest portion of it doesn't sound too bad either.

Grrrrr!!!! You've already got me hooked! *shakes fit* :lmao:

I play EQ for the quests and raids. Some of the quests are huge, with some amazing storyline (both of those games do currently have books based on the lore. The best EQ one is "The Ocean of Tears").

A great example are the "epic" weapons in EverQuest. Each class of character (wizard, warrior, cleric, etc) got a special weapon a few years ago that had special abilities based on thier job. The origional version took me 6 months go complete, and the upgraded class weapon that came out a few years later took me almost a year.

With MMORPGs there really isn't an "end" to the game. There's so many aspects to them as Zulemara and Conc have stated. And if things do start to get stale they'll release an expansion or patch that adds new content. All this talk about them I'm definitely going to log in today. It's going to take me hours just to go through mail on all my toons.

With no internet at home, I havent played EverQuest in a month. Going from raiding with 53 other people 6 days a week, to no EQ at all is painful :sad1:

 There's always the classic console games to hold you over. :thumbsup2

My N64 died, and my SNES is in VA at my mother's house :(

*cough*
Roms.....
*ahem*
Emulator....
*cough*
*cough*

:lmao:

Just make sure you don't download games that have been re-released for the Wii and you should be safe. I don't think Earthbound was re-released. :)

..........Nevermind. I just remembered you'd need an internet connection.
