Do you owe on your taxes?

never to early to get ready to file

Nope. I always have them take to much out each month so at the end I get a nice refund. Also this will be my first year that I can deduct both my property taxes and interest from my morgage.

We had a couple years in a row that we ended up owing many thousands, so we now have extra taken out every paycheck. I know that it's not a financially sound thing to do, but we would rather not have that shock ever again.

We're hoping that in 2007 we'll have a better grip on our situation so we can adjust downward and not have a large return, but not owe much either.

Hopefully not. Haven't even thought about the taxes yet. I guess that will be the next thing on my plate after the holidays. Should be interesting this year as this is our first year filing as homeowners.

Yeah, we have to pay capital gains because we sold our condo less than 2 years after buying it.....however, we sold it without a real estate agent so we were able to put alot more $$ in our pocket so we made out even having to pay the tax.....

no way...I used that as a forced savings and then use the big refund to pay for summer camp and vacations for that year....

I sure hope so!

Ditto! Until the IRS starts paying interest, I will pay as little as possible up front.

I don't even want to think about this yet! :guilty:

Yuck! Yes we do - have for the past several years since we decided to get married! Should have kept 'living in sin'.

Gee, thanks for that hard cold slap of reality, Monkeyboy!

This year, we should be getting a large refund, thanks to a partnership loss for DW. :) Next year will be a completely different story.

We almost always do with no children. Sure wish I could get socials for the dogs! :dog2:

Always, I don't like to lend Uncle Sam money.

Same here-try to break even-depends on deductions. I want my money now-not when the government decides to send a check.

I hope not! We didn't have a good balance a few years ago and had to pay out the wazoo a couple of times but we handled it pretty good last year, got a very small return, and I'm hoping to do it just like that again this year. Hopefully we've got our witholdings exactly at the point where we break even. Sometimes that's hard to do if there are changes during the year.

We usually break pretty even. On the IRS website, there is a calculator there where you can figure out exactly what your withholdings should be in order to to so. I got back $20 last year, owed $20 the year before.

I hope we don't owe. We've never owed in the past but this is our first year filing as married, and I don't know how that will affect things. DH used to get a big fat refund, and I usually got a small one ($500 or so most years).

We do too. :) What with the child credit and higher education credit.. I always tell my dh "I think I'm the only person in the US who looks foward to tax time. "

This time we don't have many bills to pay like last time's refund. So half is going to savings and half is going to WDW! :cloud9:

I'll probably get a few hundred back.

Speaking of taxes, I need to start going through my VITA packet! Now that finals are done I'll get to spend a lot of time going over it during break. But I love learning about taxes so this will be really interesting.
