First trip with magic bands starts in less than 45 hours!!! Trying to decide if we need to carry anything with us this trip. We have to carry epi-pens,but with magic bands doing everything, no tickets, cash room key etc. DH and i were discussing whether to carry anything else? Do we need to carry an ID or not. We could carry epi-pens in cargo pocket and have no bags at all!! Ds is 7 so we really need nothing else. Can we do it?????

I would not go to the park without photo ID, a credit card and a small amount of cash.

When you reach your resort, make a small purchase using your MagicBand and pin code. If it is successful, you are good to go.

ID, insurance cards just in case. If you have anything that gets you a discount, like an ap, DVC membership, TIW card...bring that and id. I don't trust that charging always works so I bring at least one credit card. Basically the MB just has you bring what you always brought and makes you wear a bracelet as well...

I second bringing insurance cards. Last summer at Busch Gardens my DD1 fell and cut her chin open requiring we go straight to urgent care. So glad I had my insurance card with me.

Back on our first trip, we just took KTTW and nothing else. Well, we found out the hard way that some places (some kiosks for instance) only took cash. This was years ago, and it may not be that way anymore, but we now always err on the side of caution and bring a bit of cash - just in case.

I wouldn't ever go anywhere without ID and insurance cards. I would take my usual credit card with me too, just in case.

Same here - ID, ins cards, credit card. You never know what could happen.

Your smart phone. Or a print-out of your FP+ selections.

There are still some kiosks that won't take the magic band. I read a thread yesterday about the silhouette artists for example.

I'm trying to find a clip-on pouch (not fanny pack but closer to wallet size) to fit my phone (with camera), ID, 1 credit card and a bit of cash, just in case. I want to clip it to a belt loop and not carry a bag. DH will wear cargo shorts with the same.

Insurance card is a good idea, I'll have to add that!

Personally, I would still bring everything that I normally do. I think the advantage of the Magic Bands is that (at places where they accept Magic Bands for payments) you don't have to dig through all your things and find your credit card or cash and then put everything back into your bag once you are done. I don't think the band is meant to replace everything, it will just make it quicker and more conveinent.

I haven't gotten to try the Magic Bands yet, but I think that these will be a success for Disney in terms of just increasing the amount of spending people will be doing (which is a major reason they are doing this). I know that for me personally, I will be MUCH more likely to make impulse purchases if it's super quick and conveinent for me..... :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

I think that going with nothing might be a strecth, but I will say I did not carry my wallet. I gave DH my ID and he tucked it in his wallet along with his normal asortment of credit cards, IDs, insurance cards, cash, etc.

Our trip is the first week of March. I am still planning to have an over the shoulder bag with a small wallet (with just the basics, like Driver's license, insurance cards, debit card and such). I'm planning to just go to the dollar store and find a cheapo one that I won't mind tearing up.... I wouldn't feel comfortable not having anything but the MagicBand on me.

If you are an AP holder you will need that for your parking as the toll booths don't take the mickey head yet. I'd prefer the CC as I didn't like being a contortionist(sp) to try to line the 2 mickey heads up. I landed up the 1 time taking it off my wrist to get it to go.

Absolutely have cash and a credit card as a back-up. Magic Bands can be glitchy. My friend's did not work for charging or for accessing the DDP for about 2 days of her trip. They wound up having to use their credit card for one of their meals and some other purchases. (WDW did take care of the dining charge later).

What I can think of as the musts- are credit card, cash, phone, writing pen, bandaids (you just never know); sunglasses, camera, insurance cards, id (especially if you might buy an alcoholic drink- I've seen people that clearly looked old enough turned away because of no ID in EPCOT). Is your son interested in character autographs or not? If he is, you will probably want something big enough to carry around an autograph book and pen. Also, is pressed pennies, something you think he might get into? If so, you will want some pennies and quarters on you. I also like to have some Ibuprofen with me in case some one gets a headache or something.

You will still need ID if you want to purchase alcohol.

DD, who is 22, tried to order a margarita at The Wave restaurnant, and they wouldn't serve her because all she had was the Magic Band.

Since it is thin, an ID, insurance card, a credit card and and a few bills. I also plan to slide my paper ticket in there as well - just in case. And of course my Smart Phone with screen shots of all my reservations.

DH carries the larger camera since he does not like fast rides ;).

I loved my Magic Band - I'd have one permanently attached to my arm if I could use it to unlock my house, get into work, pay for stuff, etc. I'm really good at forgetting stuff so it's pretty ideal for me. :) We didn't have any issues using it to pay (and yes, they were definitely smart in making it making it so convenient...)

My husband and I went to Food & Wine this fall and I always had my ID with me - I was 32, but people always think I'm younger and I ALWAYS get carded at home so I felt pretty confident I'd need it for alcohol. I only got carded one time, though! Reading other people's experiences on here has me feeling like I must be starting to look old...

I would have liked to just have my band on my arm and my wallet in my pocket, but I always got stuck carrying a bag. We carried $1 Store rain ponchos, bottles for water (my husband honestly thinks the water from the drinking fountains tastes perfectly fine...), sunscreen, Advil, our phones, portable phone charger/cords, a camera, wet wipes, and napkins. We probably could've lived without most of that stuff, but it was nice to have.
