Hi everyone, I was wondering if you think we need a car for our March trip, we will be visiting sea world and I know we can take the I-ride trolley there, we will also be visiting universal for a 3 days, I know the trolley doesnt go there. We would have to take a cab. I called V. V. and the girl I talked to said to take the I-ride as far north as it goes up international drive and grab a cab from there to universal to save on fares but I dont know, that seems like kind of a hassle?
The rest of our stay we plan on just relaxing and enjoying our resort not venturing off to far. So I guess we would only need transportation to universal. Has anyone ever relied on the I-ride for going up and down International Drive.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, we will be there for one week.
Thanks to all for your help!

I would highly recommend that you rent a car. We stayed at the Vistana Villages in May and we really did need a car. You will find it much less stressful. The resort isn't really near anything within walking distance. So you can use your rental car to get to the parks, restaurants, and the grocery store.

You should be able to find a good deal on a basic car. Just keep checking. The rates usually drop when your dates get closer.

You'll love the Vistana Villages. It's absolutely beautiful. Have fun!

We found the car to be essential at V V. It is so easy to drive around as you might know. Make sure you have good maps which are available at many places or online.

Have Fun!

VV definitely falls into the category of a resort that would require a personal vehicle.

Hi !

Well, maybe it's bacause I'm not an American citizen, but we've done quite good without a car!
The I-ride trolley is right by the resort, and 1 stop from the trolley you will frind a Publix.
There is complimentary shuttle to all the disney parks.

The only tricky thing is universal studios. If you take the trolley to stop ....14..I think!!...universal is about 20 minutes walk.

We did it 4 times, and thought it was OK!

So....That was my advice...

With the "complimentary shuttle" at VV we felt very obligated to tip each way. With 7 people tipping a dollar each way it came to $14 in tips for the day. I was so thankful to have a car for our other days. If you can ignore the tip jar and everyone else putting their $1 (OR MORE)
each way then it will be "complimentary" for you. Because I had seen "complimentary shuttle" advertised and had never been on a shuttle, I had not budgeted for tipping. If we had relied on that shuttle for all 11 days of our trip we our budget would have been shot. Also, the shuttle does not run on a similar schedule to WDW busses.

We just toured this property and I think you will need a car. It is beautiful and you will love the resort!

I'm looking at staying at V.V too and I have what may be a silly question. We have always stayed on property so I'm not familiar with other methods and I'm wondering...if we use our car (or a rental car) is there a fee to park in the Disney park lots? What about DTD or PI? Just trying to weigh and balance what to do. Thanks!!

Yes, I think you pay 8$ to park at each Disney park. Don't know about DTD /PI. If you are AP holder, then I think it's free..

$6 per car to park unless things have changed since December.
