"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

Yum! How did I miss getting one of those on my trip? Where do you get those?
'Ohana. Maybe Kona too? I have not been to either. Chel, we are having a DIS Cocktail party. You will have to check out Native NYer's PTR too.

Jennifer, hope you didn't mind me inviting a friend along.

Not at all! All are welcome. Drinks are served nightly. Mimosas in the morning ;)

I have issued a dare to Katie and Caitlin to do each of these at least once on our WDW vacation.

22 Annoying Things to do in an Elevator
5 Meow occasionally.

Ever seen the movie Super Troopers? (Probably not---I'm one of the few people conned into going to this movie.)
Well, there's a scene where the troopers meow at people they've pulled over as a game. I am sad to say DH has reenacted this scene while on the job!
It goes a little something like, "Meow ma'am, do you know how fast you were going meow?"
"Meow do you have your meow driver's license meow?"

It's amazing he hasn't been fired!

I should mention that they originally planned to have a "food fight party", but they can't talk either us or Tate's mom into allowing it at either of our homes. Go figure.

Too funny! Why on earth would they want to do that? Why would ANYONE allow that kind of party? Could you imagine?

Speaking of that, here are a couple of pics of the room (during construction):

This is so neat! I can't believe you did this!

Loving it! Can't wait for more...I've never had a Lapu Lapu, but those things look GOOD! ;)

All caught up again!

The M&Ms are too cute! So is Katie's room!

I have a lot of those same guide books! Your favorites are my favorites, too -- my Passporter is definitely one of my new and cherished finds!

Sorry I missed the cocktail party last night! :(

Friday night cocktail party? :lmao:

How is the trip planning going?
LOL You know I'll be getting my IRL cocktail party on in a couple of hours. Trip planning is taking a back seat to April 15th.

Darn taxes have to cut into your Disney fun. I'm a little loopy today and my memory is like that of a 95 year old. Maybe it's all of the lapu lapus :rotfl: Your Disney dates are the same as mine, right?

Yes, Aug 9-16. We are doing Brown Derby/Fantasmic Tuesday, August 12. My itinerary is posted somewhere in this thread, but I don't know where. Oh, and it hasn't changed, like some people's we know ;)

Oh, I found it. Here it is!

Wow, that looks like a fun week! I haven't looked at that in awhile. Whew, we're gonna be busy!

We're doing the Derby on Sunday, August 10th.

I have to check to see if any of our ADRs overlap.

Already done. They don't :( Are you doing the DDP? Right now, we're not, but I might change that.

How do you find out if free dining is available?

I just checked :sad2:

We are doing deluxe dining. We did it in January and loved it. I'm thinking the regular dining plan for the possible October trip.
I think the DDP is so worth it. You'll have two meals and one snack a day covered. You have to pay the tip, but it really isn't that bad.

I think I read on Scottny's ptr that the rumor is free dining may be offered on April 7th. It's usually offered first to Disney Visa cardholders, then a few days later to the general public. I would LOVE it if it covered our dates, but it seems like it's always the end of August and September.

Did you get a discount on your room? If you did, you can't use the discount and get free dining. Always a catch!

No discount on our room. Full price at the moment. But I joined AAA and I may call and see what that would get us. When I looked at the DxDDP I just don't think we'd eat all the food. We don't do both appetizers and dessert. But it all LOOKS so good!

I think when I looked at the DDP it was within a couple of dollars per person to my estimates. I did conservative (on the high side) estimates and decided we probably wouldn't always select the highest priced items on the menus (especially the girls). Plus blue zoo isn't on the plan, and we really want to do that, so it would be OOP. Plus several of our ADRs are TSx2 credits, so we would still be OOP more meals.

But then a friend asked me to see my spreadsheet and I was checking it before sending to her and found a HUGE math error. So it's on my to-do list to re-evaluate.

I like the idea of having most of the food prepaid. I know, it's just moving money, but I'd like a smaller bill on the back end.

The DxDDP is a lot of food. We never finished a meal.
I like the ddp allows you to prepay meals, so it's less OOP on vacation. It gives an all inclusive feel.

We chose it for the exact reason you mentioned, a smaller bill on the back end.

Can't wait to see if you get the DDP!

OOOOOHHHHH YEAH! TIGERS WIN AGAIN!

I've been "checking in" on the disboards to keep up with y'all. But I've been too busy rooting the Tigers on to victory to write. I've even been too busy to attend the cocktail parties. But as you know, we Tigers are still 'in training' until we beat the Kansas Jayhawks Monday night. That's when we'll celebrate with cocktails. (Or better yet, hawktails!!!) GO TIGERS!!!!

Hi,
Ok just read it all and cannot wait to hear more planning,

Oh my goodness, Scott. I am honored that you've joined us! I can only barely keep up with your PTR. I am excited about the ADRs, but a little nervous that we will get caught up in whatever we're doing and decide to cancel some of them.

Every time someone says they're all caught up on our PTR, I feel guilty. I think my posts are wordy and boring with very few pictures. But I should be posting some pictures very soon!! We've had a full weekend out of town...
