Our street name is really kind of stupid. I never thought about it until now - Woodgate. Someone actually named a street after a wooden gate???

Do you like your street name? Does it fit? Or is it corny?;)

I live on Monkeyboy Drive
I guess that fits

(being mayor of my small town can't hurt either)

No! I always have to spell it to people. No one really knows how to pronounce it and even the street signs at each end of my street have it spelled differently. I don't know what it means either but am assuming that it must have had something to do with whoever first bought this land.

Roberta

I won't say what the name of my street is...TMI. But it's often misspelled (even on the street signs and maps) and mispronounced. Shortly after we moved here, there was an article in the local paper about this street...that no one officially seems to know the spelling of it, altho there IS an official spelling...just that no one really knows it or uses it.

Confusing, huh? ::yes::

Not only that, but our post office doesn't deliver to us...the PO in the next town does. Makes for some complicated situations; ie, if we want something delivered UPS or FedEx, we need to use one town name and zip code (the one we actually live in), but something coming through the USPS, we need to use the other town's name and zip code. We often have to prove which town we live in, like when the kids play town sports.

Ummm...what was the question? I got a little sidetracked!! Sorry. :D

I love mine....Chickadee Lane...just like the little bird!
But like Roberta....I have to spell it out all the time, no one seems to know how to spell it, although it's spelled just like it sounds!
and yes, we have chickadee's here!

My street is Male Ave. I get kidded about it all the time that I should'nt be allowed to live there, me being female. A lot of people think I'm joking when I tell them.

i don't like mine either. it is better that the one i used to live at though: woodbox rd. WHY would you name a road woodbox?!?

I love it! It's so elegant sounding. ;) I hated the name of the last street I lived on. NO ONE knew how to spell or pronounce it.

I guess it was the same person who named Woodgate. :p

Oh, and right around the corner, is Metalfence street. Kidding of course.

in the same neighborhood as woodbox, there was red velvet ln. RED VELVET?????!!!!!!

I like our street name, but have to spell and explain it to a lot of people, even though the spelling is pretty easy; Old Oaken Bucket Road.

It is named after the house in the Samuel Woodworth poem, "The Old Oaken Bucket".

I like my sister's street name, Bayshore Drive... it sounds so cool and beachlike...

I live on Oakwood Village Lane, I always have to spell it and then the name of the city, ChamblEE, those two e's gets people everytime!

Ours is an Indian name, and it's spelled a lot of different ways. When I'm verifying my address, I usually get "Ya..., Why Ah..., . how do you say that?"

Since we are very rural, we don't get mail delivered to our house, it goes to the post office 2 mile away. When people ask for my address, I always have to say "Physical address, or mailing address?" Large numbers of houses in our area have only had street addresses for the last 7 or 8 years since we got the enhanced 9-1-1 service. Before that, directions on a real estate sheet would read something like "turn left at the burnt store, go 4.3 miles and turn where the big rock is", etc. Some names of real streets in our area include "No Pl., Teddy Bear Ln, Burnt Store Rd, Poppy's Pl, Fido Ln."

I like the name of my street...Main Street! I just wish it was closer to Florida and didn't get covered with real snow every winter:teeth:

Mine's fine, I just wish someone would decide if we live on a Court or a Circle -- the P.O. calls it Court, the home builder calls it Circle.

Don't care one way or the other for mine. Kind of hard to get attached to a county road number. :p
