Do you like Old Key West?

Absolutely! We LOVE it! I can't get used to the smaller accommodations at the other DVCs and the hallways drive me crazy. I love the open vacation home feel of OKW and the nature is another plus. It has some of the best on site transportation to the parks. We like having a rental car for those nights when we want to dine at another resort though, so we don't have to bus through DTD. OKW feels more like "home" rather than a hotel. I will say though, that I don't care for the studio rooms. They are a bit closed in because they are usually on the ends of the buildings.

Love it, love it, love it. We are now in our 50's and its laid back atmosphere is just for us. One feature many fail to mention is that this is the only resort that has parking at each building, not just some giant parking lot 10 mins. away from your room. The last two trips we parked maybe 40 feet at the most from our door...smjj

We have been DVC members (VWL) for 5 years. Over Easter, my son and I had our first stay at OKW (it will NOT be our last!!). We stayed in a studio. The only problem I had was at check-in. We were moving over from PC on Easter Day, checking in at OKW after spending the day at Epcot. By the time we checked in there were no non-smoking rooms, which was a problem for us (allergic). We had to spend the first night in a smoking room (cough, cough!!) that REALLY smelled bad (the bedspread, the curtains, everything reeked!). Luckily we were able to move the next day. Other than that little glitch we LOVED OKW!! We were in building 35, right across from the Turtle Pond bus stop. It was ~ a 5 minute walk to the Hospitality House/main pool. I can't believe how much I LOVED the whole "feel" of OKW. It's hard to describe until you stay there. The conch fritters at Goods to Go were heaven!! I think my son and I had them at least 3 times. I had a feeling that I would really enjoy my stay at OKW (plus the points savings), so I already had made a reservation for a one BR for our "girls only" trip (me, my mom, sister and niece), leaving on Father's Day (only 17 days now!!). My niece is going to love the new slide (my 15 yo son gave it a thumbs up!). We're in the beginning stages of planning a VB/WDW trip for next June and I am pretty confident that OKW will be seeing us again!

Verty much!!! We just added on some more points there.

I truly don't care for OKW. Although I can appreciate the larger rooms, when I go to Disney I want to feel like I am staying at a Disney resort not a Floridian condo. If I want a Florida feel then I would be down towards Miami or on the west coast in Sanibel not in Lake Buena Vista.

Love it! We've been owners since it opened and have always considered it our second home!

Sgtpet, the Florida feel is EXACTLY one of the things we like about it! I live in a "lodge", so when I go to Florida, I don't want to feel as if I am "up north". I want to see palm trees and pastels.

Absolutely!! I'm leaving Sunday, along with DW, DD9, DS8, DD6, DD1, and MIL. Thats why we're staying there, 7 people, BIG rooms. Whenever we don't have a reason to stay somewhere else, like BWV or BCV for Food & Wine, we stay at OKW for less points. Whenever we go with 7 people, OKW is the place to be. Plus it fits my mood most of the time, especially June.

We like the lower point values and the fact that it finally has a slide at the main pool. THe things we don't like are the retirement home/village feeling it has. Far to quiet and not enough to do there like you get with BWV and BCV SSR.

Jacuzzi for 2 (or more)!
Can't get it anywhere else in DVC in Disney...(only HH or VB I foget which)... :love2:

1BR and 2BR Rooms are much bigger than any other property.

Oh, Did I mention the huge Jacuzzi?

Cheaper point costs than anywhere else

And then there is the huge Jacuzzi.

Ditto!

Couldn't say it any better than that.

Only thing different with us is we always have our own car, which is very nice.

Last week we got back from our fourth trip as a DVC member. We wanted to try all the resorts and have like them all. Our first was our home VWL, second trip BCV, third SSR, and last weeks trip was a two bedroom at OKW.

This is a beautiful resort and will plan to stay there again. ::MickeyMo

Us too. The best resort of any kind at Disney, IMO!

We'll be staying at SSR next month. So we still will have stayed in all of the Disney resorts at least once. So far we haven't found anything we like better that OKW!

We have been members since the beginning, and OKW was the only DVC to buy, we have since added on at OKW, and also at BCV, but OKW is by far our favorite!!!!

We LOVE Old Key West. We love the giant rooms and the laid-back feel. I will also admit that I like how you an carry your own luggage to the rooms. We have so much stuff that when we check into the other resorts I am embarassed! At OKW no one sees me with my Poptarts and pool noodles!

We have always loved everything about the place except the lack of a pool slide. Now staying there will be even better... the kids can't wait to try that slide!

Just got back from a week at OKW...our first stay there. It was wonderful! Only complaint is there's no real food court...so either bring your own or plan to eat elsewhere.

We are members at BCV and SSR but have yet to stay at either. Our kids are small, 4 and 5 and we like the feel of it. The car is right outside the door if we want to go somewhere, the rooms are nice and big and it is quiet. After a day at the parks we need a place to relax and enjoy. I think we will try VWL next time but I am having a hard time with the idea of a "hotel-like" setting instead of individual villas so we'll see.

I understand what you are saying. You can see palm trees all over FL. But there are many locations in FL, that have the whole thing: beautiful beaches, beautiful clear blue water, palm trees and the Floridia/tropical feel, much more than what you get in Lake Buena Vista. We also love the west coast of FL or even better are the Keys. They have beautiful beachs, palm trees, unbelievable sunsets, clear blue water and the real FL/tropical island feel. Condos are everywhere in FL and most are in the light pastel colors. If we want a vacation with the true FL feel, we head to the west coast or the Keys. When we are in Disney, we want the total Disney experience, We do not want to feel as though we are staying off site. We have stayed in the International Drive/DTD hotels that are not owned by Diisney. We had very nice stays but it just did not feel as though we were really staying in WDW. This is the same feeling we get at OKW.
We do like the bigger size 1 & 2 bedroom at OKW. If we are vacationing with the parents/ in laws, or a big group we will stay at OKW. We always have a rental car. It is a necessity for us when staying at OKW. We also do more off site things, because OKW is so close and easy to Crossroads and the roads to Universal, Seaworld, Discovery Cove and the outlets.
