LOL, you are totally right. We have taken our kids many times while they were growing up..on vacations to disney. Then, we started taking our disney trips without them, lol, when they had too much going on in high school, and now they are grown.

At first, we missed them for a couple minutes of the trip..lol, but then, it was just fun, fun, fun. Now it is the best time..going without them. Although..as soon as our grandaughter gets in the 6/7 age range..we will start taking her as well..lol.

Well, it's apples and oranges. Adult-only trips are so different from family trips. I like them both! :goodvibes

Have to agree with minkydog...We love going with them, we love going without them.
The pace of the trip, the things we choose to do, the places we choose to eat, etc... vary depending on if the trip is with the kids or without the kids. Trips without the kids are definitely slower paced and more relaxing.
Even though we go numerous times each year (sometimes numerous times in a month - leaving tomorrow for trip #3 for the month of July!), the kids feel the need to see everything and do everything every trip!

Thank you so much for making me feel better about leaving our 1-year olds at home! It's okay for grown ups to have some fun!

after October! First trip there together without the kiddies. I'll miss them like crazy, but cant' wait to do the adult things (PI, KTTK, F&WF) :cool1: I've been there with just a group of adults, no kids, not BF/GF or married. Can't wait to see how this compares to that trip, and to the 2 trips with the kids. But hey, it's Disney! They're all good! :jumping1:

We just took my son (4) to disney in December and now I'm going back with my SO for an adult only trip. We are both Disney freaks and can't wait to ride all the rides. I like both adult only and family trips.

My children have horrible memories of family vacations. (so do I) I like to laugh and talk to people and am interested in things. I like my vacations a whole lot more now although I have greatly enjoyed my trips with my grandkids.

Funny thing is that my dd just got back from a family vacation and her boys have both told me that they hated it! :rotfl: They would have preferred staying with me! :rotfl2:

What goes around comes around. Are we there yet??

Slightly Goofy

It's much better. First trip was with my seven yr old daughter. No problems, we waited until she was old enough to enjoy it. No stroller, no diapers, and no crying! Then our second trip was when she was 17 yrs old, even better. Now, come September, just me and my husband and I can't wait.

We wont be childless but not with us 100% of the time :flower:

DD16 and her friend will be off on their own most of the time, we have dinner planned together but that is about it :sunny:

Looking forwrd to DH and I enjoying the parks alone :Pinkbounc

I love going with the children, but am going only with my other half for the first time soon, but still feel guilty!

DH and I did trips with the kids for 15 years. The last two trips were just the two of us. I really am liking the "just the two of us" trips way better. (also the cost is way better)

My DH & I are doing are first child free Disney trip in October. I love family vacations but they can also be somewhat overrated. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My wife and I love going to WDW without children. It gives us more freedom to enjoy Disney at a slower pace.

its so nice to see that other think its ok to go with out the kids

my DH freaked out and said its wrong to go for adult only trips to any place that is for kids

he is being such a baby about it
i was gonna go with my gram amd mom without him adn my 2 sons and he was all thats wrong adn selfish of you

I agree with this. I'll even go one further and say that solo trips are also different than family or adult-only trips, and I love all three for very different reasons!

I have a friend who says that WDW is no place for kids!!!!! ;)

Seriously, though DH & I have no children, we have travelled numerous times to WDW with friends and their children. It is a very different vacation with children than it is without...not better or worse, but different.

I love going with my DH and DK's ( 2004 and 12/2005), but I really like going to Disney! So I thought......maybe for my b'day in Jan. my DH and I could do a long weekend. Boy, did get alot of grief for even having that thought! DH says," We will have just got home a few weeks b/f, and we are only going to do Disney every 2 years, or we will get sick of it" Yup, he is one of those people who doesn't get it. Do you think there are any boats left at Splash Mt. I know alot of DH have been going over lately!!!! My parents, who would have to watch our 3 kids, are ready to call DSS because they think that is the meanest parent thing I could do- go and not take your kids!!! So for all of you who get to go kid free ( and even DH free at this point) keep me in your thoughts and go have fun for me :sad1: . Maybe you could go play the monarail game in honnor of me :drinking1 . Be safe and have fun! :wave2:

Love going w/o DD...miss her a lot but it's great to have a little quality time with DH to recharge the batteries! Plus there are Sit-Down restaurants (avoid it at all possible with DD!), PI, BIG KID rides!!!!

So true...it's just a completely different trip without the kids. DH and I are like honeymooners when we go alone. (Next will be in March '06). We do completely different activities, spend a lot more quiet time enjoying the pool (and just sleeping!)

But (God forgive me! LOL) the most fun I ever had on a WDW trip was last Dec when myself and 4 other GF's (we're all nurse anesthetists) went down for a meeting and stayed at the BW on our DVC pts. OMG! How we didn't get evicted is beyond me. Here's a bunch of 40 somethings acting worse than springbreakers (OK maybe not quite THAT bad!) but we sure had lots of fun! Way too much to share with all our DHs! We got polluted at Kimonos, stayed in the hot tub 'til after 2 am, ate like piggies thru EPCOT, and basically had the very best weekend ever of female bonding! We all want to go again!
