Do You Lie or Tell the Truth?

This is my second account. I couldn't manage to reset the password on the old one. I've been on here since 2010 but took a long break.

Understandable but I don't think you get what everyone is saying. If you love quilting, hunting, cooking, or any other hobby that would be a better forum for getting conductive feedback from people who have been in your shoes. Most people on this forum likely would never have this dilemma come up and would be looking to get back to WDW sooner or later.

From the "people who already want to go group" you should just tell the person. From the perspective of telling someone that you have no interest in going that would be someone else's expertise most likely in a different forum than here. Possibly you could ask on the universal board or cruise board?

If you truly don't want to go, be honest with your sister. You're right...she may assume you just don't want to go with 'them'. Let her know that you don't want to go with anyone!! And then let your sister deal with your niece.
Or....
if you're asked, bite the bullet and go. How long has it been since you've been with a kid? I hear what you're saying about it not being the same anymore. But, when I go with someone who has never been before, or with a child, I find I see WDW through different eyes. That may very well happen for you too!

You are not alone with feeling this way!

It's not that I'd never go back. Things change. It will be a long time though. My lat trip was so overwhelming bland that I knew it was time to move on to other things.

For instance, I've gotten the chance to see new things. I saw Bermuda for the 1st time. I'm going to Key West, New Orleans, and Nassau for the 1st time in November. If I was still going to Disney, those would still be on the bucket list.

Be honest. I have gone to WDW a couple of times with a person that hated it and didn't want to be there (my husband :( ) They were miserable trips. Never again. You don't want to ruin their fun by being a downer if you go. My husband no longer goes and I go with a friend 3 times a year and we have a blast!!

I cannot come up with any reason you would want or need to lie or ask if you should :stir:

You tell the truth because its reasonable for you not to want to go this time and it wont prevent her from having a great trippixiedust:
You wish her a magical time and maybe help her plan and get excited if you want, share your own good memories and photos. You dont need to get into your negatives about it, just that you wont be going on her next trip but know she will enjoy it.
If you want to do something nice, get her a Gift card or book her an experience or something special.
You tell the truth because well, its the truth and lying is wrong and silly for this reason. Would you want your niece to lie to you or her parents?

You could go because its special to her and pretty cool that she wants you there but either way, a trip with her family will be wonderful.

Sounds like my wife. I think that's part of my problem. If I could leave my wife behind, it might not be bad.

Now I better delete this post or be ready to go into hiding if she finds it.

I'd tell her the truth, that you don't fancy a trip to WDW any time soon, and make the point that you're enjoying other places.

The only thing I'd suggest thinking about is if there are other things in the Orlando area you want to do, so you could travel and stay together, but do different things? Like if you wanted to visit Universal or something- you could stay together, arrange to eat together sometimes, but split up to do different parks? I'd see that as the best of both worlds (if you can find things in the wider area to interest you).
