I like to make my own dough, but mine really isn't that good. Anyone know the secret to a good pizza dough?

My dh bought one of those Presto Pizzazz Pizza cookers and he absolutely loves it. He has tried all kinds of different recipies and cannot find one that he likes. However, since he bought this machine he has found that by simply rolling out Rich's frozen bread dough (of course letting it thaw and rise first) and using it as a pizza crust the pizza turns out awesome. Also, he uses Furmano's spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce which I think makes a difference also.

We also like Frescetta frozen pizzas 10x's more now because of the Pizzazz.

Anyway, I hope this gives you some help.

I never knew there was a Presto Pizzazz, I'll have to do a search and check it out, thanks!

Great Link thanks, I'm going to order one. I went right out and got the frozen dough, rose it in the preheated oven, and I just took 2 pizzas out of the oven. DS has 4 of his teenage buddies over playing a game and I just looked out there and there is no more pizza! I guess they liked your idea:D

Thanks for sharing!

This is what I use for pizza, calzone & stromboli. It's a slight variation of one I found for the bread machine here on the boards. Since I don't have a pizza stone, I was having trouble getting the crust to be done in the middle of a LARGE pizza & was advised by the great ladies on the board to:
- start the dough (for pizza) without the toppings, just sauce
- do it in the middle - not top - of the oven
- bake at 400 or 425

Deb

NOTE: I use the individual seasonings because I don't usually buy Italian seasoning.

Pizza Dough

1 1/3 cups water
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbl. olive oil
2 Tbl. cornmeal
1 tsp. baking powder
1½ Tbl. garlic powder
½ Tbl. parsley
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. oregano
pinch pepper
pinch thyme
1 Tbl. parmesan cheese
3 cups flour
1½ tsp. instant yeast

Add to the bread machine as directed by your machine. Set to dough mode. When it's done, spray cookie sheet with olive oil & place dough on it. Use a bit of flour, not oil, on top of dough to make spreading easier.
