Do you keep the Towel Animals?

This rates right up there with the refillable mugs. Maybe we could start a poll. Do the same people who take the towel animals reuse their mugs from year to year? or do people leave the towels and use their mugs? LOL!

Yep, i'm feeling punchy today :jumping4: :jumping4:

Last year was the first time we received one. It was a small one made from a washcloth. We have it on a ledge in our bathroom.

We were at disney in Dec. and did not get 1 animal towel. How do you get mousekeeping to leave you one?

We've actually asked a cast member at the front desk when at WL and they said yes and when we were at POFQ--the baggage guy when loading our stuff onto the Golf Cart carried them out for us (we didn't ask--he grabbed them off the shelves).

They held together with a series of rubberbands and seemed to be "permanent" structures.

I've not been on DCL--but my experience with towel animals on other cruise lines is they are not "permanent" structures--meant to be photographed and left behind.

I don't drink soda so I don't do the refillable "reusable next trip" mugs ;).

Evidently I do steal towels though!

And I've been known to take an extra pickle at Pecos Bill Cafe :earboy2: .

Last year at WL, Mousekeeping made two towel angels on our second day there. We had them in the room and thought they were cute. On our last day, we saw a mousekeeper who asked if we liked them. We said yes and she said they were ours to keep. So we brought them home.

we asked before taking ours at CBR...she said it was ok and to take care of them(as if they were alive)..she was just being silly..

so as long as u ask u should be ok....not every policy in the would is 100% full proof....would be too much a perfect world

What I don't understand is WHY anyone would want to take a animal home made of cloth that other people have used to wash with...YUCH !!!!! I don't qualify for the drink refill. Fountain drinks are just tooooo nasty to consume. Try cleaning the lines sometime and I bet you never drink a fountain soda again...LOL

We kept the ones we received last year. They travel surprisingly well and they are actually still together in my DD's room.

Everything I have read on the boards says that Disney expects you to take the towel animals home.

I have a friend that works in the GM's office at Disney deluxe resort. I asked her this question, her answer, "Absolutely Not, and that they are trying very hard to make sure the housekeeping staff realize they towels are put there as decorations not as a personal gift. Someone is paying for those towels and that cost is going to be passed on to all of us. The problem is the maids really don't care about the cost of stolen towels.

She also said if people continue to carry them off, soon they will have to put a stop to them being left in rooms.

Let's leave the towels behind so our kids can continue to enjoy the towel buddies! Our maids even set up our kids' favorite bedtime stuffed animals playing cards, reading books, and watching television. Got to love the maids!

When we went to WL in Oct. 2001 our wonderful mousekeeper left us a washcloth bunny and a washcloth bird. On our last day there, I called the manager to 1) compliment our mousekeeper for awesome service, and 2) to inquire as to whether or not my DD could keep one of the animals. We were told to take them both home. I can, however, see why you SHOULDN'T take them. This is why I called.

I am a mousekeeper in CBR. We have been told by our managers that it is fine if guests take the towel buddies home with them. They fully expect people to. The towel buddies are all part of the magic, to make your stay just a little bit better. Not ways of trying getting better tips.

No, they don't belong to me--- they are washclothes and like other washcloths and towels, belong to the resort... they are only there to amuse, not to take.

Wrong, they are yours to take. Our mousekeeper made us a towel basket with stickers all over it and came to my door on check out morning and said it was ours to keep and take home.

I guess you bring your own linens, wash cloths, towels and silverware from home then right?

Well with all things Disney I guess it depends on where you are staying and who you talk to.

I really have never considered taking them as they are towels and towels are part of the room inventory.

Here's a few we've enjoyed....

We never take them, as they would be difficult to pack/carry back to Cali. Besides, they always seem to come apart the minute I move them!

B/c it's washed in bleach and I don't intend on washing myself with it when I get home or ever using it again.

Do you not use the towels in the room at all, then?

Drip dry?

thsi has been discussed there before and I think that someone said that they use "old" towels for this purpose. If you take the animal apart you can tell that the washcloth has lost its shape and has loose threads (although some mousekeepers may cut off the loose threads).
